View Full Version : Druid - dungeons with animal charm (filter/list?)

Heya,
Decided to go with the Druid with my group of friends. I tried finding a list, and I suppose I could just look at every dungeon as we go.
Curious if anyone has a reliable list/or instructions on how to filter a page to find dungeons with churnable animals. Everything seems to be solo leveling oriented, not having dungeons until much later.
Not soloing at all, so danger isn't necessarily an issue - would just like to add another charm to my group as much as possible.
ENCH / CLR will be with me full time. Obviously if I cannot get a pet I will do dps/cc/backup heals, but hoping to charm more often than not.
Thanks for any input.

The large dire wolf near the archaeologist in Permafrost is a good pet for befriend animal too.
Technically anywhere with a shaman pet has a potential druid pet.
Kael has some mean charm targets.
Perhaps the black dire’s henchmen can be charmed.
What places are you looking to group xp? We can wrack our brains further.

Thanks to both of you - we are just starting out. One friend is new to the game and the other and I have been playing since '99, so we were thinking of trying to switch up dungeons every day and not follow the same beaten path. So really wouldn't be looking to always hunt in the same spot for more than 2-3 levels probably until we have to. So the list ATM is potentially endless 14-60 :)

Crocs in oasis. stonebrunt is good for mid 30s and full of animals. I found the rhinos in OT to be way too resistant to be worth charming. Griffons all over Norrath. I know those aren’t dungeons but I think still worth noting

Kerra isle has rats that are monks you can charmed. There’s a named one somewhere that will wreck face. Really neat zone even though it’s not a dungeon.
Upper guk live side has that basilisk you can charm. Hits pretty hard and has a crazy long stun.

Wow, some great suggestions guys!
We might not always keep it in a dungeon if we want to explore the world a bit, but probably in a dungeon most of the time.
Random monsters like that basilisk is what I'm talking about!
Thanks!!!

https://wiki.project1999.com/Per-Level_Hunting_Guide (if you click the Druid filter) has a lot of charm spot ideas (along with a bunch of quad kiting spots).

Wow thanks for the tip, I am sometimes at a loss for how to use the filters there - was always hoping for a simple spreadsheet but that is nice!

Glad to hear it was helpful:)
If there's any way I can make the filters clearer, let me know.

I know they show up under druid, but are you able to add a button like guard/goblin/undead that is animal?

Animals are tricky, because with goblins or guards I can just look for the text "goblin" (or "guard") to find them, but to look for animals I have to look for the text "lion" and "tiger" and "bear" and ... you get the idea.
However, I hacked it up by using the list of animal mobs in https://wiki.project1999.com/Category:Animal. I'm not sure if that category is comprehensive, but it seems to do a reasonable job now when I filter by animal on the guide.
Let me know what you think.

Animals in WW are also a thing.
Charm fighting there isn’t the fastest xp, but it’s lazy and easy. Charm pet also lets you kill the giant caterpillars for silks.

Siren's Grotto once you get really good at it. You can't do this one solo really, but in a group a druid with a pet can wreck. It's a dangerous place in general, but you have room to maneuver outside the castle or even inside if you have a good group.
Plane of Mischief is another fun one higher levels. Druids can solo A4 with a pet. You'll die some, but charm the skunk that doesn't summon and geek it out with -mr gear/savage spirit and a tola robe if you're feeling lucky. You really should be ok on charm breaks, just build a bit tanky. You can even give the mobs you're fighting -mr gear as well since they will never be KOS.

Some of the SG druid pet charm options are scary strong. I’ve done it a few times. Charm breaks will pucker your sphincter hardcore unless you’ve got assistance with the Cc. A bard, paladin, cleric or ench (who is paying attention) is your best friend. Otherwise be prepared to die.

Druid Charm Leveling Path off the top of my head
15 Oasis Crocs
20-24 Gorge Hounds (If no shithead Bard is in the zone this spot is the best at this level range) Just sit up on the hillside and pull. You can also grab the Dark Wolves and Griffons too. Zone to gorge is real close if things go bad
24 - 29 kinda sucks OT is kinda meh. (There are Tigers in LOIO I guess) Duo with an enchanter if you can and just heal him and root his mobs. There are some bandits at some ruins near Giant Fort you can harmony and root rot too. I'd group in MM at pond or Unrest and just grind it out and get it over with
29 you can charm crocs in CT but only the crocs underwater immediately down the well. Use Harmony and don't let them run. They will path into the wall and bring massive trains
31 - 35 Croc Alley (CT)
35 You can do Kedge Ent. Snare a mob and let it path as close as you can before you get wrecked by the train and zone. If you only get 1 add root it and let the snared mob path close and then zone. When you zone back in it will be there waiting. Can root rot here too that way. It's good. It's been awhile but might get you to 40
An alternative Spot 35ish are cougars in Ice Clad. Go to the island with the dock. It's much safer than the area near the Tower. Garou runs around near tower and if he aggros you, you're probably going to die
All around this area and in GD are animals you can charm. Walruses are a really good spot mid 40s?
You can also quad kite the cougars and giants in both zones
At 50 if you get good at charming SolB Bats are good
Then Bear Pits but the pits are a very well known spot now so there are always people there. If you got the stones Kedge all the way IMO

24-29 charm the dire wolves in Permafrost. The big boss one is level 24!

Emerald Jungle isn't terrible for that gap before SolB. I did a couple levels there by the zone line to TT.

Just see the post. Did anyone mention the snakes in the pool of split paw? Since the exp in the area is huge now, it’s just a good point for mid 30 to early 40
