Bash damage

From leveling a shadowknight alt, I've noticed that bash damage doesn't seem right. Two points:

1) It never increases. My bash damage has stayed the same from level 6 to 22, the skill being maxed the entire time. Its max damage has been 8 since I got the skill at level 6. Strength doesn't affect bash damage either.

2) Shield AC does not appear to affect bash damage. It should, and this was one of the appeals of using a 1h+shield as a knight. You could bash for pretty decent damage with a high-AC shield.

I have been using the AC28 Atramentous Shield.

more than just that. Bash was overhauled down the line; this must be what you're recalling. Not only does ac not affect the damage, but nothing does (str, level, skill, etc). Bash is not for damage in classic.
