Stone UI - Classic Interface ny Sakam Enrayne The classic stone interface remade for 1920x1080 in 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratio. Both include Caster and Pure Melee versions.

PS: IT BREAKS /gems BECAUSE THE GEMS HAVE DOUBLED IN SIZE! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

INSTALLATION

Unzip the contents into your EverQuest folder. To load it, use the command /loadskin inside the game or use the provided .ini

If you prefer to use the provided .ini file called UI_Player_project1999-stone43.ini, rename "Player" to your character's name and remove "-stone43" .(i.e. if your character is called Sakam, rename it to UI_Sakam_project1999.ini).

If you want to play in 4:3 aspect ratio:
If you play a class with spells, you want to use stone43.
If you want to use it on a Pure Melee class, you want to use stone43m.

If you want to play in 16:9 aspect ratio:
If you play a class with spells, you want to use stone169.
If you want to use it on a Pure Melee class, you want to use stone169m.

If you didn't use the provided .ini file, you can load the interface from the Options > General tab > Load UI SKin and selecting it. Alternatively you can type /loadskin name, where "name" is the name of the ui you picked (stone43, stone43m, stone169 or stone169m).

To avoid crashes when switching between fullscreen and windowed mode, you have to set your resolution in your eqclient.ini located in your everquest main folder.

For 1920x1080:

[VideoMode]

Width=1920

Height=1080

WidthWindowed=1920

HeightWindowed=1080

WindowedWidth=1920

WindowedHeight=1080
HOW TO CHANGE THE CLASS ANIMATION

The Class animation seen next to the spellgems, is NOT generated by your class. I just couldn't find a way to change it dynamically like in the Inventory. It is manually set to druid because I play one.

However, you can change it manually to the one you prefer. To do so, navigate to your EverQuest/uifiles/(interface you're using)/ folder...

...and here it depends on what interface you use. If you're using a CASTER version of the interface, open EQUI_CastSpellWnd.xml. Find:

<StaticAnimation item = "CSPW_ClassAnim">

<ScreenID>CSPW_ClassAnim</ScreenID>

<Location> <X>35</X> <Y>200</Y> </Location>

<Size> <CX>140</CX> <CY>280</CY> </Size>

<Animation>A_ClassAnim06</Animation>

</StaticAnimation>

But if you're using a MELEE version, open EQUI_HotButtonWnd.xml. Find:

<StaticAnimation item = "HBW_ClassAnim">

<ScreenID>HBW_ClassAnim</ScreenID>

<Location> <X>35</X> <Y>240</Y> </Location>

<Size> <CX>140</CX> <CY>280</CY> </Size>

<Animation>A_ClassAnim07</Animation>

</StaticAnimation>

In both cases, you want to replace "A_ClassAnim0X" for the one you prefer according to the following table:

A_ClassAnim01 -> Warrior

A_ClassAnim02 -> Cleric

A_ClassAnim03 -> Paladin

A_ClassAnim04 -> Ranger

A_ClassAnim05 -> ShadowKnight

A_ClassAnim06 -> Druid

A_ClassAnim07 -> Monk

A_ClassAnim08 -> Bard

A_ClassAnim09 -> Rogue

A_ClassAnim10 -> Shaman

A_ClassAnim11 -> Necromancer

A_ClassAnim12 -> Wizard

A_ClassAnim13 -> Magician

A_ClassAnim14 -> Enchanter

A_ClassAnim15 -> Beastlord

A_ClassAnim16 -> Berserker

Hello, will this work on native 4:3/5:4 aspect ratio displays in full screen mode?
edit example: 1280x1024 resolution (https://www.project1999.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3400976&postcount=2)?

EQ is a CRPG. (https://www.project1999.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2944308&postcount=33)

IQNoWoEozKY

*3:2 aspect ratio (https://www.project1999.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3417156&postcount=55)
^ Because 16:9 is made for living room televisions, not for desktop computers.

Hello! The original interface was made in a 4:3 ratio (640x480) and the 4:3 version of this UI follows the proportions of that. However, it was designed to be used in a resolution of 1080 pixels of height.

The 4:3 version has black bars on the sides that cover 480 pixels in total of a 1920x1080 screen, so the actual interface is 1440x1080. So the answer is yes, you can use it in a 4:3 monitor AS LONG AS it has vertical resolution of 1080, even if you have to position the windows manually.

If you use a resolution lower than that, the images won't fit entirely and will have parts cut off.

The staff should totally make this UI an option for Green 2.0!

Nice work OP.

The stoneUI slips my grasp yet again.

I have an issue where my buffs are right along the right edge of my screen meaning they fall behind/beneath the stone ui elements. This is using the 16:9 version. Anyone have any fixes for this?

Sakam

Even if the window itself is transparent, you should be able to unlock it (right clicking on it) and move it around. It's a tall rectangle the size of 2 buffs wide by 8 buffs tall, so the handle to move it should be the top left corner.

Another way is to change the coordinates in your UI_player_Project1999.ini directly.

Ah that's great thank you so much!

Any chance for a future higher resolution version? It scales very well w/ wider monitors but going to a greater height than 1080 leaves a gap on top or bottom.

I thought about but I just don't have a higher res monitor so it's probably not happening from me. But the source files are up there for download if anybody wants to give it a go

Sakam, Stone UI is wonderful. Thank you for taking the time to share this with everyone! What I love is it's upscaled for modern monitors + gives the game it's old school CRPG aesthetic with large, clear UI elements. I know many players prefer minimalist UI for wide field of view, maximum visibility, optimal play, etc. But there's something special about loading up Stone UI, going first person, and just chilling. Taking it slow. Taking in the game.

I'm using the 16:9 version. I like it so much that I use it on my 3840x1600 monitor, even though it's fuzzy downscaled to 1920x1080. For anyone who might one day be extending this to other resolutions, +1 vote for a 3840x1600 (24:10). Another decently popular ultra-wide resolution is 2560x1600 (16:10). And 2048x1536 (4:3) would be neat too as it allows crisp 'integer scaling' rendering option from game's native 1024x768.

For anyone who wants upscaled without old school UI, check out Upscaled Velious by Shawk.

Oh, one thing I just noticed is I couldn't find a way to right-click see details of people's gear when I inspect them.

That shouldn't work anyway - you only see the names of items equipped by other people.

Firstly I just want to say that this UI was what I have been waiting for since I started playing P99! I have tried other classic UI's but there has always been an issue with something that made UI not work right or look off compared to the original Everquest. But this UI looks near perfect! Thank you for this so very much Sakam!

>>> I just downloaded/installed the UI, but when I load it in game most of the windows have a black background instead of the greyish marble from the original. Can someone please help me figure out how to fix this? <<<

Right click the affected window(s), and under Window > Background change the "Texture" option.

Thank you so much Mcoy! I was afraid That did the trick. I couldn't figure it out without someone from this forum helping me. And I didnt think someone would check the forum for a long time. I have a few more questions/problems though and that is the spells button and spellbook icon are very dark, like an 80% black overlay on them. I cannot right click them to change the texture.

Below is a picture of the issue. What can I do to fix this?

1. Also the buttons for Help, Options, Persona, View, Abilities, Combat, Socials do not work. Is there a way to fix this?
2. And I was wondering if the pet window can show the pets health bar. Currently it does not. If that is the way classic EQ was set up then I will be fine with that.
3. Is there a way to change the font size of the mobs health when the mouse cursor is on the healthbar of the current target? It is very very small at the moment.

I do not understand what you are refrenceing when you say to read the first post. You would need to elaborate because this is very confusing. Are you talking about the first post in Stone UI? If so then none of my issues are addressed there. Are you talking about your first post to me? And are you refrencing to right click the black spellbook and spells button to change the texture? If so then I already stated that doing so does not work, it just gives me the option to save a spell set. Anyway after logging out or restarting the computer, I am not sure which, the blacken icons went away naturally. My other 3 questions are still a concern though. Thank you

The first post in this thread. It mentions how it's only designed for a max resolution of 1080 - you'll have to tweak the xml's (beyond the scope of my knowledge) to adjust it further.

I know this could be a very very long shot, but I was wondering if it would be feasible to port this to the TAKP Client?

this is pointless if you dont fix the first person animations

This works fabulously for almost all 8 of my characters. The only flaw I find with this otherwise amazing work? The class animation changes don't work for a Warrior class (using the 4:3 variant). The inventory animation doesn't show up for War, nor does the Hotbar animation appear (despite setting it to 'A_ClassAnim01' for Warrior, as instructed).

Otherwise, this is awesome!

DallasNChains

AHA! I figured out how to fix it!

In EQUI_Animations.xml, under ' <--- Load Class Icon Textures --> (line 219, for me in Notepad++)

it calls for 'warrior01.tga' and 'warrior02.tga'. I was perplexed until I cross-referenced this with the default Velious UI animations sheet.

Velious UI capitalizes Warrior (Warrior0x.tga). Making the change to Stone UI... it brings up the gorgeous Sword and Shield!

HUZZAH!!

A few years too late, but I'd like to report that I'm using this on my Wizard. Love the 1080 version. If there is any chance of this being updated/still being worked on, I think some of the redundant buttons from the classic style could be revised out while keeping the look, like how you did with the inventory window. Beautiful UI.
