Red worth starting on?

I'm debating on giving red a shot is it worth it? is it possible to get things done with the current population? Will I just get pooped on by stacked players? Any pointers? This is my first time on a PVP server i've got a million questions!

Red is a blast. It is the closest thing to a "fresh" server you will find on P99. Why? because every zone is pretty much open for you to quest / experience / explore without dealing with lines, or camp checks or other bullshit grown adults don't have time for. You gotta be a self-starter to thrive on Red. You may need to make your own jewelry, backpacks, banded armor or whatever else. Sure, you might be able to get some handouts in the form of free gear from people, but don't rely on that. You will need to solo, or form your own groups. Other people will most likely log on alts and group with you from time to time as well if you get the group started.

Id say no unless u just want an EQ museum/theme park and dont care about starting everything over if another server pops up. Id say yes if you just want to reacquaint with EQ, see the zones, solo most of the times, not an actually alive server where its worth investing some real time on.

The devs here told the community they had another pvp server coming and no news for 2 years. So out of the blue, you could have a new server popping up in a couple of weeks / months and this server will become truly dead. If that doesnt bother you, id start playing.

Can still go to most dungeons ir and find pvp or people to xp with. Good numbers at night and on weekends and you can still camp ports and get decent pvp

This is literally the situation. Its a museum with less than one person per zone average.

I still give some credit to Rogean and all, i bitch alot but they did put up a stable pvp server, etc... so it could still be possible they could come back with that. Meanwhile theres this semi-and-a-half-dead in limbo server.

900 person is 10 person per zone during classic and no one expects a 10+ hall of truth and shit like that.

I recently played on red, this winter, leveled a monk to 40. There was literally just our group leveling. I know cuz i ported around to see on another char. And by group i mean 3 people. If i didnt have a fungi and that monk weap from KC im not sure i would have suffered through 1-30 solo. It made solo bearable. Im not trying to chase them away, im giving them the real deal of what they can expect if they start playing here.

You’ll find folks but it’s not classic EverQuest cuz there is no one killing Beatles and bees in the noob zones

EQ is the game ppl play during downtime or to larp in chat in 2022. Everyone is a casual. Even the ppl with a char logged into each server to tab thru.

If you want to get into a guild clr is viable. It's slow in the 35+ range and not easy to farm items without a buddy tho.

You're a ranger hippy and u like melee so shm is good.

Druid 2 u can melee with thorns and heals. Sounds silly. It works tho for lazy leveling. Not killing cool stuff.

Necros. Especially lizard ones literally don't even need gear or research or fancy spell drops to be any good.

I always recommend avoiding ench because they are somewhat gear reliant. Unclassic. And spells like charm are often used unethically.

Rangers r actually pretty ok at pvp once they get some gear. Go for mr first and any kinda bow u can get ur hands on. U can bow down reds with good dex if you are insane. Since servers in velious they can also fear kite animals to 60.

Everyone else will say do ench. Or SK.

SK is the premier pvp class. Ogre SK. Do 75 agi, the rest INT. Get a weighted axe + a bow. Troll is also OK. Ogre for shm is the minmax.

There is actually more skill and enjoyment to be made making ur way thru red alone or in a small grp of 2-5 other ppl.

The only reason green and blue have a higher pop is because those zerg guilds suck and can't compete on red so they go wait in line for welfare pixels on blue and green.

Id rather grind my nuts on the sidewalk doing the split for 2h at a time than soloing PVE with X1 xp to 50 in EQ classic another time.

I never soloed on Rallos, beyond trying quadding on my wiz for novelty. Theres strictly two reasons i put up with it on red: See the zones i didnt see on live, raid which i never did on live and the possibility that my bitching on the forums might eventually make the devs remove xp loss in pvp, which eventually happened, but not before the pop was gone.

When nostalgia isnt going to cut it anymore, you need something more engaging than camping a spot alone for six hours to get 2 bubbles or whatever the fuck.

lame post starkind confirmed been level 44 or so about 20 times on p99 and knows the good part of the game front to back. Also bravely jousts to death while facing certain pvp death like some king from game of thrones.

You on the other hand, shit post in pvp forum because someone pvp'd you 12 years ago and you decided to get revenge by AFK camping a plat camp for the rest of your life to accumulate game wealth. Seek help.

<Perdition>'s direct opposition (who couldn't seem to decide on a guild name) ground themselves into the dirt by including a bunch of uncool and abnormal legacy folks like Merzenary that only live to pell dragons and project their own insecurities. Their will to fight was shattered by our many PVP and PVE victories weighted against their own poor leadership.

Now that the rot is mostly removed, there are several promising new guilds starting to bud. I look forward to seeing them blossom and try to take our dragons.

For anyone wanting a less populated, mostly solo EQ experience —- red is where it’s at. That said, there are plenty of people I’ve met on my travels willing to group or help. Just my 2c. I really like red. It’s nice knowing you have the option to fight, even if you never really will. My only experience with pvp was getting owned by some level 10-20 twink as I was leveling my wizard alone. He killed me once and dipped. Not a big deal.

Basically what the above posters are telling you is that if your fear was of pvp on a pvp server that fear should go away cause nobody left pvps. What they don’t tell you is the people left have played the same game for 11 years by themselves basically so the mentally stability of the average player on that server is not so bueno.

Went to go solo on a Cleric a few years back. There was a warrior that wouldn't leave me alone. Yea I understand its a PvP server but I was like lvl 7 in Crushbone soloing. Didnt like the experience, never going back.
