I actually agree with their stance on the absolutism of seeking freedom at the costs of faith, indifference, and apathy. And their duty towards their flock to cultivate a true faith through practice and obedience to the authority of the Pope. And the duty of the princes to the authority of the church. Indeed morality alone and the self serving nature of man and his own beliefs conflict and corrupt. That's what happens when just anyone can preach and profess piety.

So much heresy.

That said you cannot beat a person or nation into submission with a stick. You cannot coerce or subvert. Manipulate. Or succeed through lies.

What was the final nail in the coffin? What allowed for unfettered progress in the name of greed and science. Power. Commerce? How did America rise to subvert the church in just over one hundred years. How then did Hitler succeed in setting the stage.

Perhaps it would be best to simply state there is nothing wrong with orthodox Catholicism and it is and should always be well respected as the primary Christian faith. With all others being shades of Christianity. Without the inherently certain salvation of Catholicism.

Adventists r pretty weird. For example. Many have fallen from righteousness too.

I suppose ppl will always try to follow weird religions. Catholicism should not bend to meet them though. Those people should come to Catholicism perhaps of their own folly in following their own faiths. They would be better catholics for it in the end.

Ratzinger mentions the folly of political engagement. Many Royals fell away from the church and in doing so the church bent to meet the Royals halfway on new ground. I like him. :D He was never truly progressive. He cared about them. He also cares about the church and faith. That's no sin. I would say if the Royals come to the church it's fine. If the church goes to the Royals on their terms it's not. Political engagement isn't black and white in this scenario. The people should want Royals with the mandate of the church. If you give your mandate to just any royal, what is it even worth anymore?

You cannot remain pure and righteous by bending to populism. You can't save everyone.

I emailed the pastor, he said something along the lines of "we asked them if they are anti-semites, they said no". One of the key speakers is Kandiss Taylor, the "Jesus, Guns, Babies" person

Like, dude... seriously... it doesn't work like that. Nobody articulates these things so plainly. Only idiots actually put up outward indicators of their fascist tendencies.

I'm really disappointed in the lack of wisdom they demonstrate. If they do bag the whole thing I'm volunteering my time to help them translate online rightoid bullshit.

I am happy to use my insanity to benefit the congregation. That church has a ton of LGBTQ members. It's partly why my wife and I started going there years ago. Progressive churches in the south are not super easy to find.
