People like to give it shit for reasons that are dumb when you step back and get even a tiny bit of perspective on it. It's really amazing what has been put together here, how authentic it feels, and all the awesome stuff you can do with it.

A++ imo. There's a fantastic community on Blue.

The casual players are all very friendly, helpful, and sociable. The more hardcore player-base are generally asshats but you'll likely not deal with too many of them until the raiding scene.

Depends. What do you think of classic eq? What do you think about current live eq?

If you just want to chill and casually enjoy EQ, it's fantastic.

If you want to seriously get into raiding, be prepared for a considerable time investment. People say the raiding environment here is super toxic, and that can be true in some circumstances, but for the most part it's the guild leadership that deals with that kind of stuff. Most regular members don't need to involve themselves in the worst of it, so it is possible to enjoy yourself and get some nice loot along the way.

12 years here and have avoided all drama, it's not hard. Just login and play and experience the golden years of EQ.
