Most tradeskills cost a lot to level to the point of usefulness. I think tailoring can make money early with silks.

Mostly do whichever ones you think are cool. They aren't an efficient way to make money or anything in the game unfortunately. It is pretty easy to get smithing to the skill level needed to make banded armor, and that is basically peak functional smithing. (like no diminishing returns)

Tailoring, handmade backpacks can be worth doing and is probably my recommended course.

alchemy on a shaman is pretty much the only reasonable tradeskill to level, and even then you won't really make much plat by doing so -- and you'll need to spend about 3k IIRC before you can even start to make money back

tradeskills are for roleplay and completionism

skill points are abundant and can also be ignored

The only efficient use of skill points I can think of is for Research if you plan to do spell combines yourself. Tradeskills can only be trained at a Guildmaster to 21, but research can be trained to your level max. All other skills are better off being raised without skill points.

If you aren't training Research its safe to dump 21 skill points into Tailoring, Brewing, Blacksmithing, Pottery etc...

Tinkering : telescope
Smithing : banded
Tailoring : hand made backpacks
Alchemy : sow pots on blue and cure pots on red
Make poison : for being a real rogue
Jewelery making : hp rings and resist jewelry
Fletching : making better arrows for yourself

Jeweling is probably the best tradeskill overall.

But any of those above are fun and worth doing. If you like everquest you will like those things.

And all of em have more to them than im mentioning here but those are the commodity items that you can kinda make money from.
