Hello all,

My Monk is 56 and has (2) Hammered Golden Loop (1) Earring of Essence (1) Black Sapphire Electrum Earring.

I find I’m pretty much pulling or tanking group content and was wondering what the best overall combination would be for this.

Losing AC from old earrings and the -AC off 2 HGL’s scares me…

Thanks in advance!

The minus AC makes me nervous if I am tanking. I personally go with Earring of Essence / Pearly Sarnak Bauble

How's your blacksmithing skill? (https://wiki.project1999.com/Sanctum_Guardian%27s_Earring)

A little AC loss aint a thing.

HGLs are too good not to use.

The AC loss in group content is insurmountable.

@ Level 56 - EoE + BSEE AC 985, HP 1981, MR 90 // HGL (x2) AC 936, HP 2123, MR 90 // HGL + EoE AC 959, HP 2050, MR 95 (All self buffed) group content will be my primary style of play for sure, what would you do?

definitely don't use loops for group content, your ac means the most against dark blue cons and the least against red cons that are going to hit you for max most of the time anyways

imo the difference is very marginal but since you asked

do you have a cleric in grp? if yes then max hp>all to take advantage of ch efficiency if no and you are relying on druid/sham heals then max ac is better because you will always be less then 100% hp and regening therefore the less damage you take the better.

Is there an optimal mark to hit for a Monks AC? The extra HP from HGL will bolster Mend too right. Hmmm this is tough, hmmm maybe it is just a cleric on < other priests off OR keep weight in check (mines always running over) and HGL’s ON :) Thanks for all the insight, still seems a little mixed but AC > Rest group wise is the gist, target AC for monk would help if someone has solid math on that?

Every mob has it’s own tipping point for worn AC depending on it’s own ATK.

Furthermore AC only works against the random part of a mob’s hit damage. Against mobs with a large base damage and small random intervals AC is worth much less.

What group content do you intend to do?

Just. Use. HGLs.

There is no pulling / tanking that you'll ever say "wow i wish I had more AC." Stonestance is all you need before a tough mob gets slowed or a big pull is brought into camp for CC. Then you could be tanking naked and it wouldnt matter much.

When your flop fails and you get blasted by 3 frog casters in seb, or harm touched in HS, etc...your HP and resists will be more noticeable.

The only reason I would not use HGL x2 would be if

a) I was an iksar and had all the high AC raid loot. I feel like AC doesn't matter a lot except at high levels.

b) I didn't have worn see invis on another item as there are two good options for the ear and relying on a BoB sucks because the duration is crap.

Specifically, AC matters most at 50+ on non-raid content. The difference between of damage between a garbage geared monk and raid geared monk on Eejag is absolutely massive. Like, nearly cutting damage in half. Raev, Yumyum, and I spent hours testing this.

However, that same AC difference made no difference whatsoever on Vindi.

Yes this, ac matters in group content. Raid mobs go max HP /nod

Sorry to semi-sidetrack here, but what would yall say is more important for tanking HOT mobs: AC or HP? They're mostly a mixture of even cons to yellows or low reds, so probably HP?

HOT has a lot of AE damage, so I'd say HP and Resists.

Makes sense. Thanks!

I use HGL at max hp, than swap out to living thunder ear when I take damage than swap back HGL for mend.

I think after 1400 ac there isn't much diff /nod

Oh man! My poor warrior is a good 300 AC away from that still, lol.

Something to aspire to ;)
