Hello community!
Just joined the forums today.... I've had an interest in p99 for several years and just recently bought a copy of the titanium edition disks...unfortunately disk 2 was damaged.. luckily the seller is sending another copy this week.

Some history.. Now in my mid 40s I grew up gaming and gamed on most iterations of PCs, starting with trs-80s/apple2s.. but things definitely change for me around windows 95 and the internet growing some legs. My first MMO was Ultima Online...and I was hooked.. got a few of my co-workers to get copy's and join me.. One friends wife almost divorced him after the first week of playing :D... they made it work.
So this was before Everquest and I was so invested in UO that I didn't give EQ a thought. Though there was one time I got a 72 hour ban in UO due to an inappropriate character name...Early 20s silliness.. so I gave EQ a try during that time.. created a wood elf ranger... a character choice inspired from my fav fantasy novels of the time and I'm a bit of an archery enthusiast in real life .. seems to be a popular class in many games to the point of being cliche unfortunately..
It was a great 72 hours...but I was so rooted in UO there was no time for 2 mmos at once. So that was all the EQ experience I had. When Star Wars Galaxies came out that replaced UO for a couple years, though I did keep a small presence and maintained my UO account. Then from there to WoW. WoW was the main home from then on up until you could start joining dungeon Qs... mmo's started feeling different for me and my interest waned.. tried many... none could really grab me for more than a month.
I bought in to the kickstarter of Shroud of the Avatar... was very excited for it...but sadly disappointed in what it eventually became. Any game with a cash shop and you've most likely lost me. I've been keeping an eye on Pantheon but I no longer back games due to past experience as stated. Spent a little time in Project Gorgon and had fun playing though I didn't put much effort into trying to socialize.

There are a few youtube channels I follow that cover p99 and it has always interested me so I will be joining as soon as I get it installed. Still uncertain weather to join the green or blue server as an actual noobie. I'm in the est time zone and I imagine I'll have to play solo a majority of the time due to the need of a flexible gaming schedule...though I do hope to actually get to know some fellow players in game an have people to run with sometimes!

Any advice on sever choice would be appreciated and I'm looking forward to the experience!

Welcome. Green will eventually merge with blue (sometime in the next year I'm guessing). So either is a fine choice. After the merge, they will create a new Green server that starts with vanilla EQ before any expansions. Check out the wiki too for a wealth of information https://wiki.project1999.com/.

I did get it all set up this past Friday evening. Choose to play a halfling druid based on advise for a new player. I'll be running around the green server as Twiggins!
