If I wanted to start a rogue for under 5K in cost for gearing what would you suggest? I don't have super high level or rich characters, so I don't have endless funds to twink a rogue, but I would like to gear him well enough to get him to 50s without being a burden on others and also being able to be a decent member in a group. With that in mind any suggestions for gear?

A cheap stabber with 10+ dmg, 20%+ worn haste, suit of banded and velium fire wedding hp rings.
Crystalline Spider Fang or Frozen Shard 100-2000pp depending on server
Silver Chitin Hand Wraps 300-3000pp
Banded 100pp
Velium Fire Wedding Ring (pair) 800-1000pp
Should just be in budget, even on green.
Fill any slots with cheap str gear (golden amber earring, sarnak hide mask) and off hand with a circa 1:2 weapon (eg green jade broadsword).

Main/Offhand= Rapier of Oriin / Frozen Shard + Crystalline Short Sword
If you are a small race, get a https://wiki.project1999.com/Small_Dragonbone_Shard for even cheaper
Haste= Silver Chitin Hand Wraps
The above total for a total of like 1kpp on average and essentially hold you till epic.
The rest of your gear means very little, buy the cheapest str/hp gear you can find. There is a bunch of 50-100pp items sitting in peoples bags in EC.
Edit: Try and get a ravenscale mask (500p) for the innate see invis, helps to see yourself hide/sneaking. Well worth the investment
Edit2: If you want to look cool (and who doesnt?) get yourself decked out in Ry'gorr Chain Armor!
