He only claimed it scanned your internet browsing history. But please, please beware. Anybody who bank's online, PayPal and so on be very careful.

Additionally the dll gave whoever was accessing it from the other end administrative access of your computer, network etc. But internet history is the least of what it contained from what I understand, either way not sure how internet search history prevents hacks in EQ.

People found out today that secrets was going to do the patcher and let voidd look at it beforehand. No one was happy.. Still don't trust that scumbag Secrets after he was posting people's search history. If he did anything beyond posting search history I don't know. I know I quit roz and removed the patcher once he went full meltdown last time.

the source code is public on github, feel free to go read it

I will say that any eq emulator is gonna be flagged as malware because they search hkeys for showeq compilers and mac addresses for boxing.

I recall a time when someone was hacking on blue99 while streaming on twitch.tv, and they got into a voice chat with Rogean. while on stream, Rogean then started listing out the file path to their MQ2 binaries, including their system name, and all of their browser tab names in an effort to "burn" them in front of their audience. Rogean also listed out file paths and file names of the pornography they had stored on their harddrive, although I think he was just bluffing.

also, none of these DLLs can see your browser history - they just see browser tab titles, and it's how they bust a lot of people for RMT (looking at known RMT websites while playing)

Very true, Perez-Melara, was placed on the FBI's Cyber Most Wanted list in 2013 for making a stalker program that did a lot of what these boxes are doing. Searching browser history is a disaster waiting to happen.

There was some weirdo who wanted to do a hypervisor anticheat. I trolled him and myself off the dev team. Then gave voidd a framework. I don't release software, I'm not a fucking moran.

I informed Voidd he needs to meet CFAA, GDPR, CCPA laws. IANAL, he is not criminally or civilly liable without listening to my advice, as far as I can tell.

First, this is very disturbing that you would make such remarks as if they were the truth. You statement is false. The patcher program is built by Xackery and is open source which can be found at https://github.com/xackery/eqemupatcher. This is the same patcher program that other eqemu servers, including RoZ and RoT, have so well used, its a very good program, well designed, and suited for its purpose.

Secondly, I do have the source code and redacted database for the RoZ server and I am not running my server with any of Secrets anti-cheat software or "trojan" as you referred to it as. Removing that code was my first priority and I value the privacy and security of every individual as I believe that is a protected right.

Thirdly, Secrets code is publicly available for anyone to view, he released it a while back on his github.com account and I reviewed over it and I couldn't find anything that "scanned your internet history" but it did send the window titles you had open to the server when you launched EQ to the game server. So if you had Firefox opened with Google.com it might show something like "Firefox - www.google.com" as an open process running on your machine. I believe the intention was to catch and detect cheaters and hackers by looking for processes like MQ2, ShowEQ, etc but this wasn't the way it should of been done in my opinion as it was invasive to someone's privacy.

Everyone has a right to their opinion but I believe everyone needs to know all the facts before making any allegations against someone or something before you make statements you may not completely understand and risk damaging their reputation by stating something false. Creating a safe and reputable PVP EQ server is something I always wanted and had a passion for, the players may be at times play rough and dirty but we don't judge a book by its cover, we judge each other by how they treat others (EQ PVP doesn't count). I don’t play there but the fact is that the guys that end up being better at the game practice killing eachother a lot on vztz servers.

I don’t have enough time to participate in a short lifespan server like that especially since it’s all level 60 action besides regular level up interference pvp. Like I could top out at level 12 and have fun but by then there’s gunna be no one in that pvp level range.

First, this is very disturbing that you would make such remarks as if they were the truth. You statement is false. The patcher program is built by Xackery and is open source which can be found at https://github.com/xackery/eqemupatcher. This is the same patcher program that other eqemu servers, including RoZ and RoT, have so well used, its a very good program, well designed, and suited for its purpose.

Secondly, I do have the source code and redacted database for the RoZ server and I am not running my server with any of Secrets anti-cheat software or "trojan" as you referred to it as. Removing that code was my first priority and I value the privacy and security of every individual as I believe that is a protected right.

Thirdly, Secrets code is publicly available for anyone to view, he released it a while back on his github.com account and I reviewed over it and I couldn't find anything that "scanned your internet history" but it did send the window titles you had open to the server when you launched EQ to the game server. So if you had Firefox opened with Google.com it might show something like "Firefox - www.google.com" as an open process running on your machine. I believe the intention was to catch and detect cheaters and hackers by looking for processes like MQ2, ShowEQ, etc but this wasn't the way it should of been done in my opinion as it was invasive to someone's privacy.

Everyone has a right to their opinion but I believe everyone needs to know all the facts before making any allegations against someone or something before you make statements you may not completely understand and risk damaging their reputation by stating something false. Creating a safe and reputable PVP EQ server is something I always wanted and had a passion for, the players may be at times play rough and dirty but we don't judge a book by its cover, we judge each other by how they treat others (EQ PVP doesn't count). I don't believe I have gained a bad reputation by anyone and don't plan on starting it now.

That being said anyone who wishes to play the vztz server I hope can have confidence that such intrusive methods are not condoned and will never be. We all have enough problems IRL and use EQ as an escape, why ruin that too.

If people are gonna sink to that lvl of loser you have to treat them like children and put in a WoW rested and exhausted effect on exp to save them from themselves.

Force them to log off by making their exp penalty so great they are just grinding a broken wheel and remove all group exp bonus when they reach a certain point.

This is meant to be a video game, not a cyber support group for the clinically insane.

This is why a new red is not going to work. My first lvl 50 on red was like month 3 or 4. Server over by then. I think a couple of years ago it would of panned out had a nice couple of months before a nilly would start to monopolize the server. That shit is happening day 4 or 5 now.

When they beta tested WoW Classic, they did a level 30 or 40 cap, I can't remember and the community had an absolute blast pvping and trying to do high level dungeons like it was raid content.

The more players clustered around the same non level 50 and non level 60 levels, the better.

Shac your rollout is okay but I’d rather have it much slower since when it hits 50 it’s game over for new sign ups i would like it like

10 for one month
20 for two months
30 for three months
40 for four months
50 for five months

Reset (or kunark)

And for the post 50 levels at least one month per level so there’s no level 60 rush either. Plenty of time for normal people to progress before the level 60 raid bickering commences.

Level locking on any of the shit box's I've played on has only promoted creating multiple characters. And that sucked because to me because it took away the penalty of dying. Kill someone at Frenzy in lguk and they just log on another capped character somewhere In Norrath to keep farming something else. It's like I don't even exist to them.

Red99 was the same of course after years of stagnation but with OG xp and no Level caps you at least get some time before it happens.

It's not the PvP fest you think it is, it's just more ways for people to avoid it and PvE, which is the goal for most people playing EQ, even on a red server.

- Don't change the original format too much, (Freeport, Nektulos Forest.) I think I remember seeing Nektulos Forest changed, from as open as a zone you can get (A giant square.) to some Final Fantasy linear path.

Tell me how zero pvp level 1 to 49 (current server arrangement) is better than the possibility of guys logging to Alts when you PK them?

I like it. One of the things I can't stand about these games anymore are the nerds that rush through every scrap of content and need their ego stroked by being max lvl in 3 days.

Keep in mind this is coming from someone that was in a guild that from day1 on red had people who were doing 8hour shifts on a single character to level faster than everyone else. They also had a cleric parked at the entrance of guk to kill anyone that tried to enter to level by training them with a bunch of mobs. That sort of thing.

Unless he wants to extrapolate more than this i dont see why anyone should take this seriously. I would even be careful if i was a dev not to get baited again by these types.

When red launched, on one side you had holocaust telling devs on forums everything was fine because their fun was to stomp casuals into the ground with xp loss so they quit the server as a form of entertainement. Other side had nihilum chokeholding the PVE stuff by numbers also telling devs everything was fine. Both were akin to chopping your own nuts in the end because it predictably led to a dead server.

Level cap time increments is a good mechanic to stop the no lifers from doing a repeat session of what happened to red during its first weeks. Especially if we are going full retard and doing a teams xp loss server.

EQ is just too much of an antiquated game that you can just accept any system it had and expect it to work. One thing i remember clearly from live is how i could blow my entire mana bar on a player that was high level buffed and barely dent his health. And this was against a player in the 4 level range on Rallos. Thats why i think a no level range is doomed to fail, once you get past a certain level difference you can just lul-one-shot people. On top of that, that practically illimited HP buff system.

Thats why when i played wow i found it immediately superior as a pvp game because if a level 53 gets cocky and takes on 3 lower level players he might not make it. This will never, ever happen in EQ. Thats something i also remember clearly from wow, taking down a level 53 hunter with 2 other people on my 27 priest.

I'll play that no level range teams server if it ever gets launched. Im pretty confident an FFA server is much better, a limited level (4-8 levels or something) teams pvp server second, but ill play it.

What i wont play because EQ X1 xp is such a sizeable time investment is an xp loss server. I said especially if we go full retard and go with that but i wouldnt play it. I was talking theorethically, if we go that way, level cap will help. But itll be dead in 3-5 months and ill have wasted all this time for what? For not even being able to enjoy the journey of what little pvp there is in a no xp loss server and arriving at the end game finish line to find that the population is already dead. Theres also the limited pop, you cant act like this is live EQ. The pop is fragile and has to be nurtured. Theres alot of things i remember clearly from live. Another one of them is the number of players that came up in Eastern Karana when i /who'd it during the halloween event: 205 players.

Thats not what we are working with here. That was the big mistake from the red launch, we had a 600 pop and as soon as it was clear that xp loss was gonna kill the pop (barely a week into it) it should have been taken care of. Level locking on any of the shit box's I've played on has only promoted creating multiple characters. And that sucked because to me because it took away the penalty of dying. Kill someone at Frenzy in lguk and they just log on another capped character somewhere In Norrath to keep farming something else. It's like I don't even exist to them.

Even if there was a character creation and level cap, to make sure people were playing one character and not avoiding PVP; which sounds like your reason why you're against level caps. But creating a new way to play, eventually all players at the end of the timeline will reach level cap and make alts regardless. It will end up how ever people find the most fun way to play in that ruleset.


Norrath is big enough to farm other things, you don't get to exist to contest everything. Rulesets to help create new ways to play a pvp server and extend the longevity of a server that typically dies off VS saying how people play in that ruleset, are two different things.

There were some horrible bugs that plagued the launch (mostly because we beta tested for a couple of months building from stock eqemu, until last minute inherited the RoZ code and didn't want to push the release date back yet again). I'm happy that we have gotten pretty much all of the janky shit fixed and are now coding the custom features on the roadmap. Voidd is revamping resists and such but everything will need a re-tune anyway once we see what happens in Kunark and the lobbyquesters start lobbying.

But I don't share anything with "my buddies" and don't really have any idea what's going on in game other than the basics of the guild politics (because truly, I don't care). There's not some top secret list of exploitable/buggy things, everything I know about comes from the public bug reports. Blablabla my sister plays but in practice, i would bet people have their porters, buffers etc... its just stupid because as someone who plays legit, you know people are doing this while im dropping my fungi on the floor, unable to trade, port, etc... unless that one person i trust is online. Coming back after months, years, that person isnt there anymore. Just dont allow it, especially on a pvp server.

I would reckon the current VzTz players, in total, would be 40-50% of the total population of Red 2.0. P99 servers have much more credibility and would have no trouble pulling in old vets who don't fuck with drug boxes (myself included). I bet Kunark, though definitely much larger than the old world in terms of end game content (40+), it would be a much tighter feel.

The number one complaint is the horrible PvP coding that you lobbyquest to defend at every turn even though you no longer play there.

Pets cannot be feared and can barely be rooted(2 out of 5 casts will land for a max of 2 seconds on unbuffed pets)

Making mage the number 1 PvP class showing how lacking the skill level is in PvP combat when an NPC is the most vital aspect of battle.

Despite multiple complaints about this Voidd only seems to listen to you and Kringe while ignoring everyone else. Which once again shows I was right about everything.

The number one complaint is the horrible PvP coding that you lobbyquest to defend at every turn even though you no longer play there.

Pets cannot be feared and can barely be rooted(2 out of 5 casts will land for a max of 2 seconds on unbuffed pets)

Making mage the number 1 PvP class showing how lacking the skill level is in PvP combat when an NPC is the most vital aspect of battle.

Despite multiple complaints about this Voidd only seems to listen to you and Kringe while ignoring everyone else. Which once again shows I was right about everything.

This here is a unbuffed Shaman pet trying to be rooted by an even lvl player, both my toons, so the pet is 100% confirmed unbuffed.

That's a shitty ass shaman pet so you can imagine how bad it is vs a mage or necro pet. As you can see it resisted 3 out of 5 roots and when root landed it lasted less than 3 seconds. Does that seem like normal PvP code to anyone?

Anyways, they rushed through classic WAY too fast. A lot of people wanted to experience that content longer. Especially with the population levels, it was just about right. I had fun, even with the crazy buffed mage pets :-)

Don't get me wrong. I love Kunark. But with the population (actual number of pilots), it's just too much. Everyone can plop down in their own corner and farm items/exp uncontested. The best EQ PVP is forced by scarcity of resources.

Server will be 100% dead in Velious though, if not before.

Considering that everyone can easily bypass the dual boxing and run multiple boxes, your 250 pop is absolute bullshit.

Every player I see is dual boxing and most big guilds are running multiple boxes, doing any content is stupid easy due to the way AC and pets work. A handful of players can drop a VP dragon, 10 players multi boxed are more than enough.

it's very obvious that screenshot is a cherry-picked streak of resists on an extremely low sample size - even then, it shows a different number than you claim (3 resists out of 6 casts, not 3 out of 5)

I could post the video where I root a mage pet 100% of the time across 3 or 4 casts, but I know that it's pointless because A) you're going to keep arguing about in bad faith and B) 3 or 4 casts isn't a good sample size, either
