DAoC + Kings and Bandits sounds like a better alternative. DAoC live (not emu) has 14 free days for all old accounts. I logged on there and was shit tons of people. Like 3000 online for one server so it's just as populated as the old days.

Kings and bandits will probably be better than Zek too.

There is pvp at all levels. Its been about a week and the amount of pvp is great compared to vztz. Still the ssme stmosphere of shit talking, so I like it. I'd try bandits server but after altergate I'm convinced custom servers fail. Zek may have changed, but the atmosphere is as close to what a pvp server should be, custom or live. Still pling and gearing toons were up to 7 active guildies in the emu guild come join. Ps play ranger or rogue. Pst Britans

R99 was a great idea after the fall of vztzm. However after some time away from eq I realized its the newness and chance to pwn a new group of people that is most appealing. I get to do that and see new content all on ZEK. R99 will be good, but 2 months of zek is better than one month of play then the poopsocking begins after the whopping 3 to 5 raid targets. If we got a solid crew on live would def be competitive fun

Custom is still custom in my eyes. That and its the same 50 people uve been pvping for the past 3 years. As far as balancing goes yeah some classes are op, but none so much that noone can beat them. I saw an OP ranger chain snare a monk, but he had no chance of killing him. Op classes yes, anymore so than like all the emu servers probably not.

Headshotting in the drachnid hive. pull every mob in the 2 large rooms an blast away. it takes like 3 minutes, after which you need to reset the instance on a boxed toon.

Its everquest pvp. Griefing and grinding is its foundation. The faint of heart need not apply. Had my first real pvp today and beat a twink pretty handily. He didn't pumice or nothin. Yeah gear and AAs take a long while, but its worth it to school people who think they can pvp

Yea.... when someone is invulnerable and can dump mobs on you, that isn't hardcore. It's annoying pussy shit. If you can't even go to out of the way zones no one has any business being in anymore without this shit happening, it isn't worth playing.

I've never reported someone. I played on SZ and never bitched about getting ganked and I played good team.

I was on tz/rz as well. Shit happened, but if people can find you within 5 minutes of being in an empty zone anon, what's the point? I guess poeple just /who [zone] count all till they find someone?

EDIT: also, everquest pvp isn't about griefing and grinding. People reported people to hell for training. Look at SZ, invulnerable trainer - fansy -- and they changed the rules as a result.

Some of your arguments have no weight from reality. They're just ideas that are quotes as truths:

1) The population didn't go down when Zek went live, maybe a lot of people from RZ quit because they didn't get their ruleset *cry me a river, build a bridge and get over it*.

2) 1300 hp because people stack hp gear, again get over it. If you want to PVP at level 5 you should go play wow.

level 5 pvp was not literal -- in other words, there's no low level pvp because of the available twink gear and buffs out. You also have so much magic resist only an enchanter can really do anything to you caster wise til higher lvls

Actually am pretty shocked to see Zek's still far from dead when I logged in a month ago, it's a pretty good pop. But yea my ranger is 80, not even the most popular twink level, with gimp AA count and I still can't burn a lesson XP sesh in peace in a relative zone.

As far as skill goes, higher end comes down to 2 overrated raid-geared PDM rogues 1-rounding everyone in the group gear, then a bunch of maggets, fodder, and victims. But 90 pvp seems to come down to whoever disc firsts, DPS is just too insane and bursty for the amount of HP.
