I main a 56 druid and I've been thinking about geeking out a pet with a tola robe, -mr gear, savage spirit etc. and just letting it wreck blues. The rat maze in PoM seems like a good place to do this as a CR would be easy without mobs KOS. My question is, will giving an animal pet a torch or 2 rusty weapons enable it to quad? I've heard conflicting information on if animals will hold a weapon. Anyone know for sure?

Animals don't equip weapons, no. It should be pretty easy to test. Let an animal hit you (it "hits" or "claws" you), charm it, give it a piercing or slashing or blunt weapon, and then break charm and let it hit you again. If it still "hits" or "claws," it didn't equip the weapon. It would "slash," "pierce," or "crush."

Charm a rat or an ape from Alice (especially A4) and you won't need any of that except the MR gear ;)
Of course, at 56 (even with the MR gear) you might not be able to keep them for very long ... maybe not even long enough to get to the rat maze ... YMMV.
(In all seriousness, my 60 druid has used the charmed animals in Alice to kill other Alice mobs, so they are viable charm pets ... I just wouldn't want to try it at 56.)
