How does weapon delay factor in to your flailing hands?

nilzark

Not sure, but there is potential here. Maybe the "hits" can only happen every so often according to your delay no matter how much you swing your arms.

I've seen this before, it looks really cool.

However, why is it that whenever I watch videos like this or other VR capture videos on youtube, it ALWAYS looks like the dude is tilting their head to the left or right?? The horizon line is never straight, it's always pitched up to the left or right. Drives me nuts watching it in 2d.

VR is pretty boring tbh

most of the times, it just hurts your head

I hate it and spit in its general direction.

but that is because I felt I was lied to.

When it was coming out all steam developers talked about, all oculus devs talked about, was how great it was, how fun it would be!

Then it came out and we all started puking all over the place like the way chunk describes that movie theater scene in goonies

and since then it's been a niche hobby for wierdos.

I play warbirds with my dusty old thing every other year but that's it.

I want to believe in VR because the weirdos tell me that the puking thing has gotten better but im like, "bro, you are literally the same VR developer weirdo that didnt tell me about puking in the first place, I dont believe you."

I just cant imagine ever being really immersed in it but maybe that ilwl change as the tech gets better.

VR eq wouldnt work it'd be more like goat simulator than everquest when you throw us all in there lol but still would be fun haha!!!!

it's a cool idea

i played half life alyx on VR and enjoyed it

but other than, I dont think I'll be playing on a VR headset a lot

Jibartik

I havent given Alyx a chance.

Do you navigate by clicking and warping around the room?

Because I have seen steam developers on youtube try to convince me that is as good as wasd and it makes me want to reach into the screen and hit them.

Yeah all iterations of VR I've seen so far, even the best received ones like Alyx, give me a very strong "Night Trap" vibe if you ever played any of those sega-CD based games where you were basically just playing video clips in a certain order to win. It's a cool sounding fad that just ends up being clunky and awkward in practice. I don't think there will ever be truly fun FPS VR games in our lifetimes. Maybe some niche puzzle genres or something.

Haha I do like it but mostly for nostalgia's sake, I was like 8 years old when that came out and it was a big deal.

I wonder if microdosing shrooms or just taking over the counter meclazine would help.

Half my pukiness comes from anxiety and immersion.

I've always wondered what it was like for the Apollo astronauts approaching the moon. At one point the moon itself just looks like a wall that you're going to smash into, but at some point before touchdown your brain's orientation systems start to consider the surface of the moon "ground", so your feet are going "down" then? What does that transition feel like?

I'd imagine it'd be crazy like a combo feeling similar to how a 3d image book finally pops out for your eyes, while simultaneously feeling that light belly floating sensation that you get when you go up and down hills super fast.

Yeah the only reference I have is the drop on a roller coaster, where you actually do achieve weightlessness for a split second. But it still just felt like I was going "down" really fast. At what point during the Apollo missions did they transition from feeling like they were going "up" to the moon, to feeling like they were coming "down" to the moon. I can't wrap my head around this.

No man's sky illustrates that transition pretty well when you drop into a planets atmosphere. It's a lot like diving into a pool.
