Why play on green instead of blue?

What are the benefits of playing on a server where you spend 5 times longer working for the exact same item?

At this stage I don't think there's much point starting on Green tbf, only a few months left of the classic lifecycle to go. Not only is stuff cheaper on Blue but you also get pet window, hotkeys 6-10, blue XP bar. Population on Green is slightly higher but not massively so.

My own experience of velks (admittedly blue) is SCHW rot fairly often as they are lore. Wait at the camp (bound to be being soloed) and offer to buy the rot (or even ask for it on pity). If they switch to loot on an alt then just take the camp and kill/loot your own. Bish bosh bash.

You have to sit at treants 7 x longer to buy SCHW on green and then after you've purchased them you have no idea if their market price will plummet.

I guess the low value PP on green is irrelevant if you're going to do things the way it was intended which is to loot as you go and progress naturally rather than buy twink items in EC tunnel.

This. I'd go for Blue at this point because there's cheaper gear to help you solo and duo easier. There really aren't that many grouping opportunities on Green that you can't get by joining a guild on Blue.

I don't follow the "market" too closely, but the prices on Green (and maybe this is the case for blue as well) aren't entirely due to scarcity, sometimes they are just whatever the few people who are the only ones selling that item decide it is. I notice certain items have a little oligopoly of players controlling its price. The solution to that would be to decline to buy until someone caves or gets desperate for quick plat

Don't farm plat then, just get the items you want from the npc that drops it and you can trade the item for a greater number of bandages and muffins once you get rid of them.

Green progress is over, so which server is moot in that regard.

But since it is newer there are still more fresh-start players scrubbing around doing fun stuff versus more established players on blue that are maxxed out.

Seems nicer than fbss, ac and a little stats. Can wear a thick banded belt with it too.

I mostly just know vanilla gear.

Literally got 60 a week after kunark back in the day. Spent most of my time at 50 in solb and guk.

Some nice low level stuff in velious I want to try for again this time.

I got my clr 51 on red, didn't feel like going back for it solo in tofs and stuff. Blue will be funner in the long run I will probably help grps do stuff in all the old dungeons.

u dont have to but its nice to start with a nice kunark weapon because melees are realy underpowered in vanilla without the suppport of a grp which on a top heavy server isn't like super commonplace, i seen a lvl 60 shaman killing orcs in ec on blue. they probably would have helped me tho if i asked and we could have shared the loot/faction
