This is pretty true. And not only is silence considered "violence" by activists, polite disagreement is also "violence". And then they go "well you're being violent therefor I can respond with *actual*, physical violence". This is an extremely dangerous concept to capitulate to.

I think this is all a sign that when a society becomes extremely abundant and prosperous, and everyone's lives are generally comfortable, people lose a sense of purpose and create pseudo-religious ideologies to give them a sense of identity. It's really pretty understandable. Like, people in the congo aren't exactly concerned about pronouns at the moment.

There was a lot of 8chan nazi BS on the forum when I first decided to post. I wrote a post about how your life's problems aren't Obama's fault (I was still learning a lot about politics at the time) -- and man people were pissed. I got like angry PMs and stuff.

But what really set everyone off is when I linked a video that showed the vast majority of college scholarships were going to wealthy white people. Despite everyone's insistence at the time that they were only going to poor minorities.

The video was a bit corny (it was from the throwback tv station MTV) -- and something about that fluffy koom-ba-yah talk was very triggering to people.
