Ikky necro and the evil research quest

Hi guys
Got a baby necro I’m looking to get through his awkward years with. Anyone done the evil research quest (light stones in sro) with, without doing faction work? Wiki says it works but it has been mistaken before

Just did it at the weekend as an iksar necro. The NPC told me to get lost when I hailed her, but in skeleton form my faction was fixed. I didn't test it before skeletonizing however.
