Than velious EQ.
For instance, to set up a kite of 12 mobs, I need to use Netherstep to kite. Mobs can't be outrun and catch up to atols snare range. Let alone the fact that my beam, frontal cone AEs are actually instants and it's better to not rely on snare at all. Sometimes I get blinded and have to cast my spells in a location I know I can turn and run in.
I actually have a rotation of nukes between burst, and sustain with mana regen abilities. It's still good to burn, and burst, but doing it effectively with room to switch to sustain without being up against a wall with mana regen takes a little skill. It still allows me to burst and afk some mobs on wiz. Or set up my big nukes/aas to delete a particularly dangerous mob while grinding, or rare. While still having sustainable dps as well.
Overall. It's pretty great and way more fun than casting 6-8 second spells and medding or relying on eternal CHs. Live is pretty good and there's just so much more to do, and 90% of the old stuff is there still, and u can make it as challenging as you'd like. No one is forcing you to use mercs or wear defiant, but it sure is a lot of fun seeing how many mobs, and what camps and named I can kill with my merc and all my new superpowers :D
