This is more a question than anything. I'm just now checking out Red, only played on green a bit thus far. I made SK and figured I would run to the swamp I enjoy the zone and I can actually see lol. Anyway mobs seem far more fewer here than what I remember from long ago. Maybe my memory is off but i'm guessing I should truck it somewhere else to start grinding the xp? Any info/tips would help and thanks again.

Nice! If you hang around the tunnel in east commons people will usually give some buffs to help you grind through the first few levels.

Swamp might be one of the emptier zones, my thing I do is I level to 4-6 then solo guards at guk, then step out and to orcs in Sro. I'm not sure of the ZEM increase is in Sro on red. The proper step would be to do orcs in EC, but if no one is there I'm not sure if it matters and/or is safer. Just remember orc belt faction in freeport isn't like it is in crushbone where it hurts no one. You pick between either, I think, Warriors or Paladin faction being ruined but if your SK it doesn't matter and/or I'm not sure if you can turn in. (Maybe Human.)

Also crocs in swamp are good, but you have to hook around the zone through Sro zone line area to make safe passage to be able to run (Which often you won't be able to run.)

Zombies in Nektolus are good too. Befallen is good too but that's usually only for necros or people with invis undead, as it is often complained as being a hard zone. Lavastorm should be not bad either but I haven't fully explored it.

These new kids definitely shouldn’t start on a 20 pop box ran by a 19 year old baby rager that will most likely give favors to people he has played with before and that’s super buggy all over norrath. Let him have his swamp adventure on red, much better experience

If u want faction in fp do it once ur lvl 14, much easier.

if your not kos to rogues, do it with the note for rebby/janam/ and rat whiskers to rebby/janam easy till lvl 5 and u will be kindly to a lot of the merchants

Yeah ill admit the last time i did any pvp in EQ was many many years ago, like 2003ish but what I meant about my problem in the swamp was there was pretty much nothing to kill. So I was just checking if I "needed" to move to a better zone to get rollin.
I figured they just never fleshed out the swamp like it shoulda been but it's no big deal I have moved on.

Innothule and Feerot are what they are supposed to be.

It's possible that wandering mobs and no players means that mobs aren't distributed normally or something.
