So, this is by far the biggest server launch I've been a part of.

Rise of Zek, and the TLP's were fun. But I've wanted a teams PvP server for over a decade now, and it's finally here. And it's everything I hoped it would be.

3 Unique Factions:

Good
Evil
Neutral

Each with their own quirks. Evils don't have Paladins, Monks, or Rangers, for example.

The different factions all congregate in their own dungeons and areas, and there is no grouping/communicating/trading between the factions.

It creates a very immersive experience.

Timeline is set to be classic -> Kunark, and then a discussion/decision about Velious. Very unlikely to go past Velious.

takin lunch, EQ for me is something i said i would only play if it was a version of Sullon Zek 4 years ago. So of course, I tried this. made a sol ro wiz in qeynos, the DD that comes from birth is listed 1hb and level 255, so I got to learn combat melee style. worse, the level 1 spells are all 5g-1p each, so that makes no sense...moar combat training. the xp is horribad, worse than OG xp levels, and I was playin a human..so decided to reroll after 3 hours and level 2
hafling druid, using the old tried and true delivery quest, made it 1/2way thru level 3 and full leather. Again the level 1 spells are 5g-1p each, but the next levels are in silver range as normal.
Cant train in alot of skills, on both classes, defense offense seem severely nerfed in gain as well. oh well, hopin it gets better, but it's not in the first or second list of servers, so who knows. never saw anyone, though did see an inkie corpse so they exist.
Giving it a shot until april 6th at least. I truly do not like eq2 though, lol.

It is going to be pretty close to classic so yes it will have legacy items. There are small tweaks for example, instant gate pots are set to 4 sec cast.

not sure what a drug box change is, or acknowledging the fact that you could box toons on live, and the fact that a shitty 50pop server isn't classic. its why these servers peter out quickly, your either a neckbeard, or a caster.

I think people dont enjoy 1 box pvp on a dead pop(less than 200), since you can't do shit except play the same tired solo classes, or be a no-lifer than can get carried in groups for 300+ hours.

EDIT: Let's not forget the most ignorant thing that every fool ignores, live 'classic' era was pushing 1,000-2,000+ active users logged in, nothing classic about one boxxing at 10% pop. Which is my main reason for having my best memories on the 2 box PVP server VZTZ. Their code was not up to snuff but it was classic zones with just some bad combat code and a handful of custom events. Boxxing two toons isn't even that much effort, in PVP it can and does, and that's fine. The difference between being able to actually do something meaningful in game or not is actually determined by being able to two box in order to:

Level alternate classes.
Farm basically ANYTHING as a non-solo class.
Not wait/beg/impose to do many epic camps.
Being able to physically level as a melee class in any capacity, on, what is again, a low pop server, FURTHER subdivided into 3 factions, which cuts a small player base into THIRDS, so basically you have 3% the opportunity to level and group compared to classic live.

It's a joke though, plenty of delusional people here who can only reference ROZ as the only two box as if its like for like.

We are emulating Sullon Zek. SZ had 3 distinct teams with unique class restrictions.

SZ also had a currency system that was never really fully implemented. But when you killed a player, you recieved a coin of their deity.

My suggestion was to take that feature of SZ, and add something to do with those coins that would benefit the economy of the server: a money sink. The ability to purchase buffs that are not available to your faction. For example, Good players would not have access to Dead Man Floating, a utility spell. Instead of simply saying they can't have that buff, allow them to purchase it with platinum at a certain level.

It was an idea that was floated to counter inflation, and promote PvP, while still remaining true to the SZ ruleset.

It’s based off the latest EQ Emu source, with close to 6 months of active work from several incredibly talented Developers, some of whom are known as Gods among men in the EQ Emu community.

The project isn’t just Gangsta, and honestly, even if it was, he’s been doing some great work.

All quests, source, and database will eventually be available for download (right now just source is,) which for over 90% of those is by far the largest hurdle.

Even if the server doesn’t make it, it’s giving back to the community more than any PvP project currently out there.

The last time we saw a PvP project go open source was over 10 years ago at the end of VZTZ. More hands need to help make a project happen just Incase Red 2.0 doesn’t happen.

Would we all love a Red 2.0? Of course. But if it doesn’t happen, we either need more people to carry the torch or as a community decide to put EQ PvP to rest, for good.

TLDR: may as well give the server a shot. It’s an attempt at recreating a classic Sullon Zek server, and worst case scenario, at the very least it’s giving back to a dying community.

Yeah, well it's kinda weird since the EQ EMU community used to share a lot more information, but then the userbase like us all kinda piled into Project 1999 which does not share its refinements to EQ EMU as a whole. I can't say I've paid attention to other eq emu projects, but it would be nice if more servers could be classic like project 1999.

To start from the bottom, the discord is "moderated" by a member of the biggest guild on the server, who unquestionably demonstrates bias on what is able to be said and by whom. The previous version of the server, Rise of Zek 2.0, saw population climb from 200 to 10 within days when developers and "GMs" decided to implement changes catering to players spamming and lobbying for things to benefit their side. This newer version of the server, " Legends" currently has best in slot Luclin geared characters that were geared using bard exploits allowing members to 1 shot any NPC in the game. If you would like to play Planes of Power with 20 people 6 boxing instanced content, by all means. But I personally will be playing Reign of Thule. I would like to add that Rise of Zek has implemented alot of weird custom " Drugbox " changes which features weird things like guild camps, instanced content, and pvp vendors which really takes away from the classic element of the game.

I played roz briefly. I didnt really have any friends to play with and didn't totally agree with the direction of the box but it was pretty decent i think it was a success. This time I am starting out with a guild and will have allies that are (hopefully) mature and resolute i'm looking forward to giving it a shot. I don't play anything atm i'm so invovled in rl I don't even know how I will pull this off hehe.

It just takes out most of the good stuff with EQ unfortunately. I assume it was to fix the low population problem but that in turn just alienates more people and hurts the population more. If you want a good pve game with instances there is a lot of competition. There isn't a classic-kunark EQ pvp option out there right now so pretty much any new box is going to be able to get some attention.

If you want a good pve game with instances there is a lot of competition.

This is the misconception people have with instancing and its not your fault. It sounds stupid for a pvp server at first but pvp servers mainly die because 1 guild cockblocks everything and the opposition slowly dies out not being able to progress. Even people leveling up in the #2 guild see them getting killed and quit leveling half way because they see them just getting shit on and sounding frustrated in discord comms.

With AoC( instance raid content only) on a 3 to 4 week lockout timer or so the #2 or #3 or #4 guild could do naggy at least once a month and still be somewhat competitive/have fun being able to progress and still want to try for the open world content since its spawning every week.

This also helps the server have more than 2 guilds ( like every pvp server ends up having) you are not forced to play with people you don't like because lack of #s or whatever the reason is and those smaller guilds could ally instead of merging for open world content( if a guild is zerging) still and go back to fighting each other after the open world target dies.

Really not sure who to believe here, a possible r99 forum troll, 19 year old bipolar gangsta, or dulu, that tells you all you need to know about this server. Dumpster fire before it even gets started, I’d say Dulu is a big catalyst for the downfall of this server just by looking at the way he talks in discord (like a 14 year old). It’s pretty bad, but at least RoZ released PoP so we have something to play this summer.

It’s classic. It’s teams pvp. It’s new. I’ll be there for at least the opening week when EQ is at its best. I’m not really playing on any server atm, so it’s not like I have to sacrifice playtime elsewhere. Nothing to lose!

There really isnt enough population in this small community to support a Teams server.

Whats going to happen is 1 or 2 teams will have 1-2 strong "clicks" of players, and the 3rd team will just be forced to reroll to one of them. Now you are taking away from "more people to fight" and strengthening one of the other 2 teams.
If we mustered up 200-300 actual players with strong clicks, somehow agreeing to stay on their team for the balance of the server then it would be a sick idea.
Unfortunately Candyland doesnt exist around here.

The competition on this new server isn't looking great at this time. It seems like most of the good players are sticking with PoP or just not playing EQ.

Except there has been 6 total messages in any channel in the past 24 hours and it was the same 2 people that don’t even play nor care to play talking about non server related things. Stop lying about the “hype” because there isn’t much. Gangstas only option for success is hoping that he actually launches with no bugs and slowly grinds his pop from 20 to 50 over a few months, but that’s if he doesn’t do anything stupid or give favors to his boys etc. Slow exp is a pretty big nail that might fit for this coffin, time will tell.

ROT comes with a patcher and installer. You literally download it, and run it, and you're in the game.

It's not like p99 where you need to edit files and stuff. If you need help, you can join the discord and someone will gladly help you.

see I took the chance on p99 because EQ pretty much vetted em and blessed em in their own sick way. Regardless they seem more one the ball than EQ at times, esp with keeping the game bot-free and free to play.
As far as doing another launcher not too sure on it, give a legit website where you can be held accountable and Ill consider it, but its not a guarantee, I dont play the WARHammer EMU for that very reason, they shady, lol.
Either way, Sullon Zek is my preferred gaming server rule type, so I hope you find a way to do that thru the p99 launcher or even Steam, but I think p99 has dibs from EQ to live thru their launcher. I saw one version you launch through p99 that had a Steam base (instead of Titanium) is why I bring it up.

No... that was done through a dll that they provided through THEIR patcher. My files are not the same as theirs and I do not provide any dll that browses your files... you obviously dont understand how it works
