I have windows 7 and occasionally when playing (usually when kiting or fighting a ton of monsters) the game will start to behave as if my control, shift, and a movement key are stuck. Usually i would be strafe running when this occurs.

When I take my hands off of the keyboard, my character will continue to either run straight or spin in a circle as if i was holding down the movement key. Pressing any of the movement keys will cycle through my recent chat messages. I am still able to get some control of my character by using the mouse but the keyboard becomes useless. Also, when I click out of EQ, i can type but everything behaves as if i were holding down the shift key. hitting shift/capslock/control/alt doesn't fix the problem. The only thing that fixes is time, after a few moments it will go back to normal as if nothing ever happened.

Am I activating some macro or something by pushing too many keys at the same time or is my stuff just stupid.

I have this happen to me sometimes as well, typically when pushing 2-3 buttons. I myself haven't found a fix for this, but I find that if I push again on the strafe button (Control for me), Shift, and a directional movement key, it generally removes the unwanted movement.

Hope this at least gives you something, as opposed to having to wait for it instead.

Sticky keys maybe? Not really sure.

I was going to guess Sticky keys too.

But I've had similar experiences on Win7 too.
My sticky keys is disabled.

its a EQ client problem ... it happened back in 99, and it still happens ... usualy its the control keys (shift / alt / ctrl) that get "stuck" in EQ ... so just press those buttons again and EQ should reset the button status ... it needs to be the same one you stuck thou .... if you used the left shift, only pressing the left shift will make EQ reset the button state of course ...
