I've played a bunch of p1999 and ever though have stopped for now, I keep coming back to read the forums because all told EQ is a really fun game. I'd love to be able to partake in raiding and getting into more difficult locations but sadly my time is very limited nowadays.

I was wondering if anyone is aware of a server or even a way to play solo / with a small group of players EQ that will autoscale mobs based on the number of players (or if you create a zone instance set to be optimized for x number of players).

Dungeon Siege. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Es9f4F8wwg)

10 years development, Day 1 patch 80gigs, Day 1 multiple DLC, Loot store, paid skins (no mods), 'Road Mapped', Early Access, mass marketing budget, design-by-committee, Strong Female Protaganist.

Due out next year but you can already buy special edition graphics cards, merch and other collectibles. All the major games journalists give it 11/10, "great story!"

Sorry if that wasn't clear, I meant an server so I can play Everquest (not other games, though the WoW would sound cool)

Drink the Pantheon cool-aid, buddy. It tastes good, and there no additives.

There's no difficulty to EQ.

Just drama. Risk. And some fancy stunts, tricks, that require specific conditions.

Once you understand the basic mechanics.

The simple answer is that EverQuest isn't that game you describe, and while there are a few custom EQ emulators (eg. Shards of Dalya), none of them have the goal of creating scaled/instanced version of the game.

As others have noted, you're really describing some other game (eg. WoW, which literally has instances with different difficulty levels).

Project EQ the grand creation I think is a more playable server.

Shards of Dalaya allows boxing and probably help to get you higher level to see more current content.

I would explore both of those. Shards of Dalaya has all zones renamed so it is kind of fun to be lost. Zone connections are different, ETC you really need to think of it as a different game entirely. I haven't played it for 10 years but even 10 years ago it was pretty robust and well thought out. If I was a PVE guy I would be looking at that to mix it up.

By far the best thing Project 1999 has going on is the PVP server which stands alone as a reasonably classic everquest PVP server. There is much anticipation around its classic timeline fresh launch similar to the green 99 server launch a little over a year ago that takes advantage of all of the classic fixes that have been implemented since red 99's original launch date.

Best of luck

Loved this when it came out, and just played through it with some friends using some insane thing they helped me setup, it was just as great as it was back then!

And its exactly what OP asked for, you're right!!
