Crashes - Yes I read the FAQ

Yes I read the FAQ and the link to the thread where you are supposed to post is a dead link. So ...

I can load fine and play fine but since kunark opened on green I just rando freeze and crash now in addition to locking up about 60% of the time when loggin and trying to swap characters or log out.

windows 10
Nvidia 1660 Ti
32 ram
plenty of hardware
drivers up to date
Titanium Launcher
etc ...

Very frustrating as I have been waiting to play my beloved Iksar master race god for a while and now ... bleh.

Was in LOIO on my ikky necro and killing mobs and rando crashed again for the 3 time in under an hour, wasn't even zoning ...

Any tips? Thanks

Also, crashing on camping is usually resolved by setting compatibility on eqgame.exe to XP SP2 or SP3.

Don't listen to the post above. It won't help. Connect your computer to your phones hotspot, start the game and see if the issue still happens. Report back.

I was having a similar issue a week or two ago. Completely randomly, the screen would freeze, although there was still background sound and the game continued to go. I would have to /quit out and reload. It could happen once in an hour or once in ten minutes. I tried all of the suggestions that I could find on the forums including editing the eqclient.ini to change the refresh rate to 60, altering window size to be consistent amongst the options, trying WinEQ 2.0, dgVoodoo2 and finally I stumbled on froomee's suggestion from another post.

If I put wined3d.dll and d3d8.dll in the EQ folder (C:\EverQuest for me) and run the client itself (without WinEQ 2.0), I now no longer get any crashes. My eqclient.ini reads:

Also if your screen freezes and you still hear background sounds from the game you can alt + enter and it will fix that issue.

Why would the hotspot have any effect? That sounds like some weird voodoo ...

So I played on phone connect for a while today and it seemed to be fine. I was in Field of Bone and no issues. Then I went back to LoIO and Boom. Instant crash, additionally this was a complete fresh install on a laptop and NOT the PC that was previously crashing. Seems to be local to LoIO?

This used to happen all the time in OT for me at the SF zone line. Now, it's happening at sebilis disco. If i'm in a group I have to load my laptop and play on that....

they definitely did something with the kunark patch. been fine and then after patch i get these crashes as well. not as often but enough to be annoying.

I can replicate a specific crash 100%. turn on selos on my bard going from OT to skyfire.
In the temple from the OT side before you zone into skyfire, it crashes 100% every time.

Other areas like sebiliss disco like someone mentioned above makes me crash as well. Sometimes in FV near the banker. It definitely seems to do something with the lighting.. but who knows. I've really just given up trying to fix it.

I've had similar issues. been playing for years on blue and never had crashign issues. Since last patch I crash 1/4 of the time zoning/camping. Some times more. Super frustrating that these don't go smoother.

I'm using a RTX 2060 SUPER on a newly built PC. We seem to have the same video locking issue, what specs is your PC?

Btw when I freeze I can still /q , hear sounds in game, cast spell, and can try to alt+enter, but only one time out of 20 did it actually work and not crash. Also i'm not using WINEQ, maybe I should try that? Someone also mentioned the Duaxa installer to insure I'm only running on 1 core.

Read the html when you extract the zip. Basically, you copy the DLLs to your EQ folder and that's it. All I did was extract it to my EQ folder and edit the conf file so it doesn't include the watermark.

i did download and "install" dgvoodo. I have not have a singel crash in 2 days and reset device error. thanks alote for this tips!!
