Has anyone played this game? It's not the kinda thing that I would normally think is the best game ever made, but it's the first new (3 year old) game that I've played that is so extremely fun.
Just played it for the first time yesterday.

Yeah for me I just love the focus on making the game super fun, but not being a free to play piece of junk.
Not trying to get me to buy treasure chests or any stupid stuff.
The painting element means you can't really just lock down the game and be static, you have to move constantly and strategize where enemy will move. It's just a good game. I mean, I proabably have 3 hours in it but thats the longest continuous gaming I've done in at least a year, so its a big deal.
And there aren't any too obnoxious super-death cooldown management moves, which I am not a fan of. I mean people have specials but its o.k.
No item loot tho.

Also, the whole feel of the game is the same as jet set radio, a game I like very much. I dunno if they paid to totally steal that game setup?? but regardless its the only new thing nintendo has done in forever and I fully love it.

I'm glad it took everyone like fully 18 years to discover that animal crossing is the best game. It came out on the 64 in japan and on gamecube shortly after. Its a super duper fun game. No idea what the new ones are like but I am sure they're amazing. Haven't played it since good old days.

Yeah if you jump and attack you fling a fat glob of paint really far, I like that a lot too. It is just childish enough without being TOO childish. It hits me just right as a refreshing escape from shit like COD and battlefield and certainly like whatever those popular FPS games are that I don't like the vibe of.

I like splatoon 2 but i suck at it. One day I'd like to practice enough to play against good people or at least unlock all the guns but there are too many gd games to play.

Was thinking about a Nintendo switch, last console I had before Gaming PCs was a N64, safe to say everyone loves their switch? It can be hooked up to a monitor I’m assuming?
Gustoo

Yeah it hooks right up to any HDMI device, and you can plug in a speaker to the console via USB or headphones (some are not compatible)
I just got the console myself like the day before I made this post, but my buddy has had it since release and has been pumping it up every day since then. I told him to get splatoon for it because I wanted to give nintendo FPS (even tho third person) a shot and he just finally got it when it was on sale. I really regret not being with it since day one but, better late than never.
Besides earlier buggy like crazy releases of games like cyberpunk, the switch has all the games that are actually good, since nintendo makes a lot more good games than any other group.
The switch got the witcher so it will eventually get cyberpunk, probably. And it got dark souls 1 remastered, and that series is basically the only other thing that makes me want another system or console.
It's hard to say what 1 gaming tool you would want, a good PC or console X but right now I'd take the switch over my PC just because it has more things that make me wanna play it.
Watbab if you already have the game, do the single player and use motion controls. By the time you finish the single player (i'm guessing) you won't be able to play the game with pure joystick action.
I played first 3 hours with joystick only, then played 1 hr with motion controls which pissed me off hardcore, but when I switched back to joystick only it felt significantly inferior.
I would suggest giving motion controls a solid 3 hour + attempt, because I think they are better in most ways and I think that console shooters will eventually all have full motion support especially since they all have similar unused gyros built in.
You still use the right stick for macro movement.
I played splatoon 2, had deep regrets of not trusting nintendo from the start and bought a console the next day. Oh and you really need to get a pro controller even though they're a solid 60 bucks plus tax. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/pro-wireless-controller-for-nintendo-switch/5748618.p?skuId=5748618
They sometimes have sales with a game + pro controller but at this point christmas is coming in seconds so there won't be sales till after xmas, probably.
Good luck bois waiting for brown 99.

yah can be both played on the tv and on handheld
helpful if you want to play when going out :D

The switch mini or whatever it's called is handheld only, so make sure you get the regular 300 dollar switch.
you can skip the pro controller if you want to save money, it includes a thing to attach the two joycons together with controller handle shape, and it works totally acceptably in my book.

only game worth getting for switch tbh is breath of the wild
every other game is just a port (just my opinion)
Gustoo
12-14-2020, 04:34 PM
There is a good amount of games only for switch and a good amount of the ports are improved on the switch, and no one played a Wii U.
So I guess I'm saying just get the games you like. Right now I am all about splatoon 2. I don't have enough time to play the switch mario game which is not a port, or the zelda game, or the paper mario game. Mario RPG starting with snes and including paper marios is my favorite series ever so I would be all over that if I thought I'd ever have time to play it.

Breath of the wild is a blast man.. so much to do and see. Any product released straight from nintendo is gonna be pretty and worth it.. So any of the mario titles- Odyssey, Mario Party, Super Smash, Kingdom Battles, Splatoon. Animal Crossing. Zelda. Fire Emblem, Kirby's, Pokemons, Pikmans. Yoshi's. Anything that Nintendo directly supports is gonna be top notch.
And do not down play the Ring.. Tryin to jumpstart that physical activity? Ring, Ring, RING!!!!
Also, older game ports, and game apps you play on your phone are gonna shine here as well..
What i wouldn't do- Is buy a switch and play games like Skyrim or Doom, or any of that games that require heavy visuals.. Gotta just make sure you buy the right games for the switch.

I'd play witcher 3 on it, and dark souls 1 remaster, and any of the other games that are ported way after the fact. Somehow they get em to work just great.

Any ports I’d rather play on my pc because of the raw power however, I’m going to snag 5 games.
Zelda BoTW
Super Mario Odyssey
Smash
Splatoon 2
Any suggestion for the last spot?? Switch owners lend me your experience. Also is ocarina of time in the store perhaps? My childhood wants to be relived with that game.

I would get paper mario.
Smash is fun but only non competively with items on and all the mayhem that was designed for the game. When people try to play it like street fighter, you should just get good at street fighter because smash is hopelessly unbalanced and without items and the level itself to even the odds its a dumb game at the highest levels. This goes for all smash games.
I don't think they officially emulate 64 games. With switch online subscription you get a bunch of good NES and SNES games.

I’d almost bet my life it’s easy as hell like all new Nintendo games but your comment makes me wanna get it immediately.
I mean how many times did you get 120 stars in Mario 64 and what was the hardest level to get a hundred coins on?

Just blew $40 bucks on Nintendo Switch's Clubhouse Games.... Aaaaaand its pretty fun to be honest....... 40$ may seem like a lot.. But break it down, 51 games.. That's less than a dollar per little game.

Haha man its like uhhh... It's 51 tabletop games from around the world.. But it's made by nintendo, so it's really clean, smooth, fast, and polished.
It also has online capabilities so you can play some stuff online.. To me it's a perfect switch game to have.... A good game to travel with, road trip with. A good game to have for groups of people or parties.. It's a gooooood switch game.
Nintendo did a great job with this game and i think it flies under the radar if you like this kinda stuff! For under a dollar per game, the price tag is worth it. And then they have some really cool like table top sports games. Full list here!

I just got the console a few weeks ago. Yeah I got a pro controller right away but I wanted a splatoon one for immersion and I found one for basically same price as retail that was unopened so I’m happy about that.
Just played splatoon 2 till 3 am last night a solid old school like 6 hour session. I’m still playing just scrub style open turf war matches but I usually score top slot. I really show those 10 year olds who’s boss

Yeah he's a real piece of work.
The game cube animal crossing was originally for the N64 which would have been so hyper cool to have. There are reproduction translated carts available that I have considered getting to round out my N64 collection. The game is just so awesome it's cool to imagine it being a whole generation of consoles early (though it was a late release)
I haven't played any of the newer ones but I am sure they're great.
