So I have a bunch of alts but only one tooth and pained soul piece and I am trying to decide which to throw it on. My chars as as follows:
Necro
Wizard
Mage
Rogue
Cleric
Warrior
I am thinking probably the cleric for the clicky heal staff? I'm not that well versed in VP gear so any advice I would appreciate!
Thanks!

Probably the necro VP staff. But warrior would be cool for scimitar of lifestealing for solo stuff

Necro - soul well staff is king
Warrior gets decent aggro weapons but aggro is cheesed anyway so fugit
Cleric can get hosh stick which is cool if you wanna pretend to contribute to stuff
The rest have no reason to be there besides sow sword of applicable

Sounds like necro it is. As far as the warrior, would the aggro weapons be better than the epic?

Definitely not. None of the warrior weapons out of VP are more than toys, clickies, or ones with very marginal use cases like the one that puts a 1pt mark of karn on a mob thus negating damage shields.

Necro staff is legit... dont forget about wizard robe, sham click hammer is pretty sick too. Lol vp is a candy store basically all classes get some really nice stuff hard call..
Definitely the necro staff and robe are best but that 14 min snare spear is pretty great. Also ups your chances t seeing a green scale. Cleric stick is great but if your cleric is just a raid bot then meh

The only epic that drops in VP is the necro epic. Ez choice.

Necro
Wizard
Mage
Rogue
Cleric
Warrior
Necro:
- Soul Well staff, DMF robe, PD robe/crown/earring/cloak
Wizard:
- Rend robe (~56 DPS mana free), lure staff (Shissar Elementalist's Staff), PD robe/crown/earring/cloak
Mage:
- Lava diamond staff, PD robe/crown/earring/cloak
Rogue:
- SoW sword, Nightfall (Dooming Darkness proc), Xygoz fang (proc removes DS), PD robe/crown
Cleric:
- Hoshkar staff (great on paper, underwhelming in the real world), PD robe/crown/earring/cloak
Warrior:
- SoW sword, Snare spear, Xygoz fang (proc removes DS), bunch of mostly underwhelming weapons, PD robe/crown
Personal opinion is that it's a tossup between WIZ and NEC. Rend robe isn't quite as much of a game changer as the NEC staves but if you prefer playing WIZ, it's pretty fun to use.
Also obligatory 'but they're removing the Hoshkar CLR staff soon!' because people have been saying it for years but it never seems to happen.

Cleric:

True except for leveling in sub-optimal (no C2/bard, slower, etc) groups, which is nice in the current state of blue population especially off peak hours.
Again, pretty niche.

I’ll add makes eashen guard/ST trash easier with 1 cleric too. After slow can staff +torp and not waste mana.

Kind of depends on some factors. Overall I would say Necro because that staff is excellent and useful forever.
The cleric stick is pretty good too, I've seen some hole groups almost just entirely healed with it depending on composition.
SoW sword is invaluable if you have a melee that would benefit from it.
Aside from the SoW sword it really depends on the warrior situation. The weapons are actually pretty great for threat and leveling if you put them on a lowbie warrior but understand you will be looking to replace them eventually.
Wizard robe is fun, has some use, depends really more on what actually want to play the most.

Heal staff = heal your shaman buddy up if he's low mana, top off necro who lifetap during downtime, top off dps that took a round or two instead of expending mana to do so. It's stupidly good if you don't look at it through the eyes of being a CH chain cleric.

Why does the wiki not describe how much shield of words heals for =/
How much does shield of words heal for?
I want to get that stick

The Necro, Wizard and Cleric definitely benefit much more than the other classes. And they each benefit enough that the primary determinant should be which one you enjoy playing the most. The Necro staff might objectively be the best item, for example, but that doesn't really mean much if you don't play your Necro frequently. So just decide if you want to play your Nec, Wiz or Cleric more over the long term. Because all three will get a lot of mileage out of their top VP item, but a great item sitting on an unplayed character does you no good.

Trick question? Shield of Words is part of the pure AC buff line which does not add to health and hence does not heal in the same manner as the AC/HP spell line or the Symbol spell line.

No I am just dumb I was looking at the wrong stick https://wiki.project1999.com/Shissar_Protection_Staff not https://wiki.project1999.com/Shissar_Apothic_Staff
And I assumed since you guys were talking about heals that the shield of words spell had a heal component.
Thanks for the answer Danth.

Definitely not. None of the warrior weapons out of VP are more than toys, clickies, or ones with very marginal use cases like the one that puts a 1pt mark of karn on a mob thus negating damage shields.
A warrior has 3 really good weapons in VP:
1) https://wiki.project1999.com/Feverblade_-_Bane_of_the_Shissar - Damn, damn good agro. 11/18 with a 110 dmg immediate, 20 dmg a tick dot proc. This thing will hold some serious agro.
2) https://wiki.project1999.com/Razor_Fang_of_Xygoz -
Some think its a toy but i carry this one on my 60 warrior for a good reason. It adds a 1 pt mark of karn; but more importantly it strips the damage shield from a mob. A pretty much must have weapon for a solo warrior. You will often find yourself procing it in a group too.
3) https://wiki.project1999.com/The_Scimitar_of_Lifestealing -
Essential if you want to solo effectively and efficiently as a warrior. I used this MH and a Silver Whip of Rage offhand for a long time - that 150 pt lifetap with a 150 pt rune after you 50% slow it from a truncheon of doom is incredible. Only replaced this mainhand soloing when I upgraded to a Jalaen's Katana.

Wizard benefits the most, it's a massive increase in DPS for grouping if you don't have another clicky. Necro item is really great but not needed for a Necro to be powerful.

Aside from the loot, Necros likely one of the more useful classes there for trainups..

The answer is cleric

Warrior if level 5 or 6, otherwise necro.
Cleric staff has its uses, but I rarely touch the thing.

The best item in VP is the Sow sword
The second best cleric healing staff
As I have both necro items

I'm a gnome necro main with the VP staff, bone bracelet from velk and Epic. With that combo, I can almost keep the entire first floor of velks clear solo and stay ahead on mana. The foundation of all of it is the VP staff. It makes me able to run demi lich the whole time, +free dps and negates the iksar regen racial advantage since I'm always over 80% with my health. While I'm sure there's other gear in VP that's helpful to other classes, the VP staff was a complete game changer for me and I have yet to see anyone else gain such a huge advantage with any other dropped item.
