I like it. Thats some incredible detail. I admire the level of effort. And that it looks like historical medieval art.

I'll try to contribute later )

This was originally drawn in 1513. I feel the level of detail for the time is 2nd to none.

You might like Joseph Clement Coll (https://www.google.com/search?q=joseph+clement+coll&rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS911US911&sxsrf=ALeKk00ELQQCVgGMk4aNzOAsUMmRfRDjwA:160506604 0387&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiLlrb5yPnsAhXQqZ4KHWHfAtUQ_AUoAXoECBwQA w&biw=1516&bih=908), hes one of my favorite artists, I love his style!

Very detail oriented type drawings. But he does a very loose style.

Went to the Prado earlier this year in Madrid and this was probably my favorite

Called "The Triumph of Death" and it gets more metal the more you look at it.

All the Goya stuff they had there was super dark too.

Was also in Ghent for a bit and saw the Eyck alter-piece. Was impressive, but also I was mildly let down in how small the actual lamb is in the painting. For all the talk and the photos around town praising this lamb, you get there finally and it's like oh thats it huh? But on the plus side you can Utrecht Dom Tower in the background and thats my current hood.

I love all that plague art. Those Renaissance oil paintings have such an insane depth to them. One could stare at them for hours and still find new, exciting detail.

Best art i ever saw was the guy who was drawing everquest stuff on this forum, i asked him to draw a pic of snowfang gnolls vs lodizal and he never did it, very sad

This is all pretty amazing. That one noble man? in red with his sword drawn standing against all that death lol. Haha. Nice touch whoever.

Anyway - this is where I realize I can't compete with this level of artistic thought and appreciation and I bow out of the thread gracefully - this stuff is legendary.

I’m guessing the sheep represents the lamb of God? Maybe you could decipher this for me. There’s a lot going on here.

Basically the people read about hormone pills and gave it to the sheep

The sheep instantly got his brain charged with electricity as he transitioned to female and won at internet posting

The Nightmare (Fuseli)

Hewy this is a cool painting!

I have this little thought experiment about this painting, and the experience of Night Terrors and Sleep Paralysis

I hhave suffered from both of these, they're nuts, it was awful, I still dont like to sleep on my back because of it, since that can exacerbate it because of the weight of your body pushing on itself.

TLdr of what they're like in my experience is you slooooowly wake up from a dream and cant really tell if you're in reality or not, your eyes are open your mind is awake you can start to see but your body is asleep and you cant move, it feels like you're being held down.

So how does that relate to this painting? Well, each culture on earth has come up with its own interpretation for what sleep paralysis is. Cultures have created all kinds of spiritual imagery to represent sleep paralysis.

This one is a Europian mythology of a gargoyle that appears on your chest and sucks out your soul.

south america has tales of a creature with long fingernails that lurks on people's rooftops during the night.

Mexican folklore has a cat, that invades people's homes and sits on their chests while they are asleep, steeling their breath.

Japanese have this spirit that lashes you to your bed with chains and torchers you.

But western American culture, has none. No mythos.

Why is that? well perhaps, its because we came about at a time where we dont make up mythology for sleep paralysis...

OOOORRRRR.......

Alien abductions, is the American folklore created by sleep paralysis. Think about it. When do they happen? what happens during them? What does it sound like?

Sure sounds like sleep paralysis to me!
