You can try to introduce punishing new shit in an era of auto-grind auto-play games but this thread is preaching to the wrong crowd.
If anything, John Smedley is also, is too, trying unto, relive his glory days, which is our glory days of how we spent our youth.
The problem is, we have what we want now, for free. Meanwhile this New World thing is ganna die in a dumpster fire because the people who want, already have, and the people who are sub-30, dont care.

I dunno, Goodest. I loved the original BG trilogy, it's a top 3 all-time RPG. But 3 being done so much later, by such different people, with such different style... it makes me wary.

You'll definitely want to wait until after early access, bit it has the makings of a great he if you liked Dragon Age Origns or Divinity Original Sin 2.

No one is going to play New World because it's going to get cancelled like Breakaway or launched and then cancelled like Crucible.

In the September 2016, at TwitchCon, Amazon Game Studios revealed its first three PC games: Breakaway, Crucible, and New World.[10]

On March 31, 2018, Amazon Game Studios announced that the development of the game Breakaway had been put into hiatus status, and that they now would be focusing on its other titles, such as New World and Crucible.[11]

On September 21, 2020, the New World developers announced an end to the game's most recent non-NDA beta-testing gameplay and feedback.[12]

On October 9, 2020, Relentless Studios announced the cancellation of Crucible, citing the inability to see a sustained future as the reason for cancellation.[13] The studio shifted to aid development of Amazon's other upcoming title, New World.
