I just wanted to give a shout-out to all those players who make the p1999 server fun! Thank you to all those players who help the new folks! Thank you to all those players who despite being in different guilds respect camps.

Last night, I had a pretty frustrating experience with losing a camp I'd held for over three hours, when someone rushed past me to engage the ph, as I was buffing (albeit from a wipe - darn aoe),killing me again via the aoe. I tried to explain I had been there for a long time but this player wasn't hearing it and insisted, and not very politely, they were following the rules about engagement and they were taking the camp.

Realizing they were probably right about the rules, and wasting the GMs time with a petition seemed silly, I camped - frustrated.

This morning I realized I was frustrated because this was the first time it had happened to me since I started on this server.

So I thought I'd take the time to say thank you to all those folks who have made the game fun by helping out players you don't know, or in different guilds, or new folks; by respecting camps and/or sharing them; by offering assistance to strangers; buffing the newbies; killing Shin Ree at orc 1 for the lowbies; giving gear out to new players; answering tells about camps so folks don't have run around for 30minutes to find out a dungeon is locked down; letting folks know when a camp is open.

I'll trade one frustrating camp dispute experience for the scores of positive ones any time.

Thanks again!

Tru

Shout Out

Shout Out – Sekou Sundiata

Here's to the best words
In the right place
At the perfect time
To the human mind blown-up
And refined.

To long conversations and the Philosophical ramifications Of a beautiful day.

To the twelve-steppers
At the thirteenth step,
May they never forget
The first step.

To the increase, to the decrease
To the do, to the do
To the did to the did
To the do to the did
To the done done
To the lonely.
To the brokenhearted.
To the new, blue haiku.

Here's to all or nothing at all.

Here's to the sick, and the shut-in.

Here's to the was you been to the is you in,
To what's deep and deep to what's down and down
To the lost, and the blind, and the almost found.

To the crazy
The lazy
The bored
The ignored
The beginners
The sinners
The losers
The winners.

To the smooth
And the cool
And even to the fools.

Here's to your ex-best-friend.

To the rule-benders and the repeat offenders.

To the lovers and the troublers,
The engaging
The enraging
To the healers and the feelers
And the fixers and the tricksters,
To a star falling from a dream.

To a dream, when you know what it means.

To the bottom
To the root
To the base, uh, boom!
To the drum

Here's to the was you been to the is you in
To what's deep and deep to what's down and down
To the lost, and the blind, and the almost found.

Here's to somebody within the sound of your voice this morning.
Here's to somebody who can't be within the sound of your voice tonight.

To a low-cholesterol pig sandwich smothered in swine without the pork.

To a light buzz in your head
And a soundtrack in your mind
Going on and on and on and on and on like a good time.

Here's to promises that break by themselves,
Here's to the breaks with great promise.

To people who don't wait in the car when you tell them to wait in the car.

Here's to what you forgot and who you forgot.
Here's to the unforgettable.

Here's to the was you been to the is you in
To what's deep and deep to what's down and down
To the lost, and the blind, and the almost found.

Here's to the hip-hoppers
The don't stoppers
Heads nodding in the digital glow
Of their beloved studios.

To the incredible indelible impressions made by the gaze as you gaze in the faces of strangers.
To yourself you ask: Could this be God?
Straight up!
Or is it a mask?

Here's to the tribe of the hyper-cyber
Trippin' at the virtualmost outpost at the edge on the tip
Believin' that what they hear is the mothership
Drawing near.

Here's to the was you been, to the is you in
To what's deep and deep, to what's down and down
To the lost, and the blind, and the almost found.

As soon as I heard about Project 1999 a few days ago, I was immediately excited by the thought of hanging out and grouping with respectful, down-to-earth/atonica people. I, personally, could care less about the semantics of class balance and exp bonuses (although they are interesting threads to read). I just enjoy playing with cool peeps. I second Truheart, thank you P99 for creating a cool-people magnet!

You know, I never thought of EQ 1 as a cool person magnet, but I will say that the P99 people are great! A toon named Chuq gave me some starting plat (that I shamefully spent on stupid stuff), and a couple of passing Dwarfs (or were they halflings...) in Everfrost gave me some buffs. As a complete EQ1 newbie, it's gestures like those that make me want to stay on here and make friends :)

So if you need a level 6 and growing Warrior for anything, just pst Mavello!

Most of this server is a good community.

The bad few are so terrible at life and general decency that I'm pretty sure they're filling the void, balancing this out, perfectly.
