Classic Spdat.eff files have CazicTouch as a Magic resist check, and I have found several independent mentions of people resisting it in era.

It should be resistable, albeit rarely.

From the newsgroups:

Its not random !! If you break pof and stay awhile you will begin to notice
that your pullers and corpse retrieval experts ( moi ) have a MUCH higher
incidence of being named . Hehe i`ve got a great screenshot of you resist
the cazic deathtouch though.

And from one of the old FoH message boards:

Yes it is, or was at least. And why must you resort to infantile name-calling? I was grouped with someone in Hate once when Innoruuk
called out his name. He didn't even lose any health. We were all
in shock that he was still there, but at least at one point it was
possible to resist it, maybe not anymore

Hi, Karae, pay 'tention. If you check that spdat.eff, you'll see that, uh, it's got a magic check! And as I said, a guildmate DID resist it. L50 paladin, naked, him and I were trying to find his body after a boogey had summoned him all the way across the zone and the raid had quit out before making it to his body. His name was called out once, he laughed about it in gu, trained Cazic all the way to the portal and then promptly died when the DT recycled and cazic called his name again.

Yes Mal, it was Sharak.

I know up until some point you couldn't make npcs / PC immune to spells or spells unresistable, instead they gave npcs 32000 resist or in the case of cazic touch possibly a -32000 resist check. Possible that modifiers could have been kept server side as there is evidence for that on other spells and dev commentary in era.

There are other cases like this of harmony failing, tash, etc due to this mechanic, albeit extremely rarely.

Not sure if dev team here want to replicate to be honest. Guessing it would be a lot of work.

I would see it as one of those easter egg thingies. It should be extremely rare, like 1 in 1000 chance of resist or something ridiculous. But something fun to provoke war stories and discussion.
