View Full Version : Where's the post with the 37,000 platinum loot on Red99?

Does anyone have a link to the thread where someone bought something from someone for 37k, then logged into a 35% hp warrior and used Mighty Strike to stunlock him, and killed him before he could bank the plat? And they posted a screenshot of looting the corpse? I keep telling people that story.
Or did that thread get nuked when the poster got banned? Red people get themselves banned so often.

Memories.
Tamtam was a great dude. Maybe not the best player - but a stand up guy.
He quit playing shortly after this incident if I recall correctly. Most of you gloating here over the "ahhh memories" are directly in effect the cause of this population problem.
Ask for a new server as you recall how big of a douche you were. Is there really any wonder why the staff doesn't feel inclined to make a new Red?

Its openworld pvp. If people think he was hard done by they have the option of going antipk vigilante crew and taking the money back from slimeballs.
I was joking around there, but now realise i actually do miss miss antipk police, bounties and so on. Made the world feel so much more alive.

After this happened I actually gave Tam the item he was going to use that plat to purchase (free). He still ended up quitting.
You're missing the point about this game being community based. When it becomes apparent you're surrounded by bad people - you don't want to play with them anymore.
A 20+ year old game should not have the antics of children. But oddly enough, it still does. Somehow it feels like most people on this project are trapped in some kind of time-vortex. Sadly.
People that like to log in, dick around and shoot the shit and enjoy the game are outcast. PVP is fun - when it's friendly and not hate-based. (Which c'mon - look at the raid scene and 12 year old grudges still firing between people).
I'm still thankful for the great people I've met on here. Just a shame things turned out to be so life altering for folks like Tune and many others.
Anywho take care Jim,
Keeth
yes there are a lot of bad people on here, but I am not one of them
yes I've pvped, I've slayed people
there are even times I've played A LOT, life altering? i wouldn't say that
the problem here stems from a few things
1) when people die in this game they get mad, sometimes furious
2) this causes them to do crazy things, cry to gms, infiltrate staff, get people banned etc etc
3) until this psyche changes, we will never have a fun pvp experience
problem stems from a society or participation trophies and all those ideologies need to be reversed
when i died did i cry ? no i dusted myself off looted my corpse and kept coming back trying different ways to win
Other people need to do that and start thinking more creatively. the game is 90% preperation. if there is a will there is a way

Hi Loudog. I, for one, am not gloating. I'm one of the nice guys of Red, like you. I just wanted to be able to show my friends that image so they would know how insane Red was, and what kind of horrors transpired there.
My post is not intended to imply Tamtam was anything but a good player and stand-up guy. hi Tamtam if you're reading this

That was in kunark, Tamtam played into velious. Getting 37k taken from you is also why everyone used lvl 1 mules in Nfp.

perfect example of another problem:
the "troll generation"
its cool now to get a rise out of people from the anonymous internet
pussies like this didn't exist in my day, we did it face to face
any one can troll now without fear of getting their ass beat, another big problem
Tune is 100% correct in this context. How "trolling" even became a thing is mind blowing. Who has that kind of time - or rather commitment to sway opinion on the internet via subterfuge and scumbaggery?
Some people really have no life I guess. But whatever. A new Red server is just not going to happen unless the community really shapes up and starts being more respectful to each other AND the staff.
I was friends with every GM that guided on Red and pretty much every single one of them with the exception of Derubael (super scumbag - stole over a million PP in gear off my account and RMT'd it) said that the players are just impossible to help due to their constant inability to be truthful and going to extreme lengths to screw one another over.

Actually after about a week of having his platinum . I actually gave it back because I genuinely liked the guy he was just on the wrong team
Other guy said he ended up coming back and playing to Velious.
Probably why he came back Sickpuppy. Good on you man.

To me it wasn’t about the platinum . I had plenty , all of us did . I just wanted to watch him squirm + I enjoyed the tears that followed by his entire guild
Well, shame on you then. PVP should be about a good, even fight that draws out and challenges yourself and your opponent. Class abilities, terrain and other things that push the limits of playability/viability of said class.
Not watching someone squirm and getting "tears" from people. Sigh.
Goes back to you on Mr. Bigs in Unrest - how many dozens or even hundreds of players did we lose because of that grief fest? It's nonsensical. But mental illness runs rampant so I digress.

That was one of the reasons I never joined AZ. They were constantly breaking LnS rules and doing other cheater-esque things. Personally, I don't think killing someone on a PvP server under the guise of setting up a trade is "bad", and I don't think it's strictly against the rules (?), but when taken with everything else it shows the constant abuse.

You didnt join az because you would have to pvp
you waited in line for your epic logging in for raid days only then quit soon as you got it because you are a truck full of hot garbage

Your right I killed hundreds but I also gave away countless items and plat and free power levels with that rogue . Also I killed more twinks and people power leveling then I did anything else .

lol i duno about that 1
but people like elguapo are still doing it to this day so its just something thats gonna be there for ever
its very hard for 1 guy to grief some one off a server completely, in my opinion if people are gonna quit, they were gonna quit anyway
You guys know that isn't true Tune. If someone genuinely new to Red decides to give it a shot. Is having fun (albeit ungeared besides maybe some cloth or a few hand outs here and there) and manages to get to MM or Unrest.
Then they get completely wrecked by a twinked out guy that knows how to handle himself - it's demoralizing and was a huge complaint by most new players I had helped. Chances are they will quit because they see it as a fight they can't win - and they literally can't. If you don't have gear in the 20-30s against someone who does - you aren't going to be able to win.
If we wanted a good community and to let people flower and grow (sorry gardening on my mind right now - damn poison ivy, too) we should have some guidelines to prevent said grief from happening.
It was literally the top complaint from Blue players that I encountered. I made twinked out pvp chars just to defend them in MM and shit. It worked sometimes but a lot of the time I wasn't on enough to help.
My chars like Bloodsugar, Dovregubben, Nate Dogg, Spacecadet, and like 10 others I forget the names of all had like 100-5 pks/deaths and none of the PK's were on ungeared new players. They were all twink PK's.
No reason we couldn't implement some kind of unspoken rule or some shit just to benefit the server. Bloodsugar was probably my fav char due to taking out people like Kammbo's monk Crouton and shit. It was a blast - despite me not having raid gear like you guys. Fighting alongside Bokke and Blueflower were some of the best times on this server.
We can have tons of fun and still eliminate the grief factor. Donno why you guys are so hard wired to accept that it has to be there.

Nope, weeks after getting my epic I took a break because the server simply wasn't worth my time. Contrary to your clueless claim, I was constantly doing PvP, but at a certain point the only relatively frequent action happening was on Seafury island. I had already done a massive amount of PvP there, and the 4 level range at 60 meant I couldn't even fight a bunch of people anymore, so it was stale. Raids were uncontested and people in the guild didn't even try to PvP.
If I cared about PvE so much, then I would have kept playing, going to raids to get better gear and working on alts more. But I didn't care. I came back for Velious hoping the server would be in a better state, and just to experience some of the content again, but it wasn't. I played for a month and got more PvP kills in that one month than anyone else had for the entire duration of the ladder, and then stopped playing again because there was nothing but mindless PvE happening.
And shit, another recent example for those that still play here - Kamilla. This dude is such a sweetheart man. He helped tons and tons of people and i'm the one that got him situated on here. He recently sent me an email asking how i've been and stuff. Then he told me that due to the constant harassment/grief (not just pvp - he could handle regular pvp) him and about 5 other of his real life friends/family ended up quitting recently to go play on another EQ server - I forget the name.
Perfect example of extremism that ends up hurting. No reason for that crap - and as a community we could more than easily handle it. Without asking for staff involvement.
here to say what’s up lou, I miss ya pal hope all is well.
Also grief is toxic and if it continues for years on end this server is a testament to what it brings in the long run. Oddly. it’s why I continued to play but it eventually got stale and I moved on to a new game. Interestingly when I employed a similar approach on this new game I was called a psycho and a sick fuck. The same thing happened there, people quit.
Grief is not sustainable on 20 year old games

Hey Fame my brother! Long time dude. I use to ask Swathe how you were doing whenever i'd randomly pop in and see him. He said you were doing good last I heard. Think he is still playing.
Heard about the ol' lady and stuff too my man. Sorry to hear but you'll find someone else. Kick some ass Alaska bro.
