I always spend levels 5-15 in Qeynos because of the gnoll fangs and rabid pelts. The pelts are especially nice because they give a decent amount of plat for a fresh character. Are there similar quests in other starting areas?

No. Qeynos is king of the super high xp, high gold newbie quest experience. Not even close. Crushbone orc quests are a distant second. Kaladim (bone chips, card quest) maybe third?

qhills was like the proof of concept for the team, it was like "this is what the game will be like" then they all went out to their individual tasks and proceeded to write terrible quests lol god bless them all though, every one.

also afaik scruffy was the first named NPC?

But that said, there are smaller versions in kind of each starting area that kinda can give you a boost. Most starting towns have at least 2 or 3 quests that while you level can give you a nice bonus if you do them. Scarab quests in the dwarf town, and blood forge armor are pretty cool, but the exp rewards are not as flowing as Qhills for sure.

Wait now im drawing a blank at any others..

Thanks. I figured as much. I forgot about the putrid bone quest, too. Damn, Qeynos is the Cadillac of newbie zones.

neriak has this quest: https://wiki.project1999.com/Moss_Snakes

kinda like what you said, tho, from an xp perspective it's like something fell apart after qeynos

lmao god damn a 3 ac buckler, while qeynos citizens get +1 mr and wis magical shields with cool names lmao

Dark elves feeding on moss snakes like little disgusting Nosferatus. lol

Rivervale has a nice setup for druid to get a pretty good full inventory by level 5 if you do leather work and try to kill nillipus but no where near the magical items qeynos offers.

Magical bracers, magical rings, magical earrings, magical everything out there for a level 8 lol I guess qeynos is just the best place to live in norrath which is why I always start there. It's like the like, cleanest, least crowded, closet to euridin, skiing, agriculture.

It's just the best damn place to live in norrath.

^ I don't think "least crowded" applies, for 1999, heh. There were a ton of people in that area and there's really not much to hunt in Qeynos Hills. Blackburrow doesn't have that many mobs for the level 5-8 crowd either (more people knowing about Qeynos Sewers would have helped, but it was either unknown or too confusing for almost everyone). I'd actually say it was the 2nd most crowded in comparison to content available, after GFay. Freeport area had somewhat more people than Qeynos, but multiple directions to spread out - into the Commons or into Ro.

Misty Thicket was probably the best newbie area for content-to-player ratio and overall difficulty. I imagine the Ogre and Troll starting areas had plenty of content for the players there, but were also more confusing and dangerous to navigate. Everfrost will always by my personal #1 pick of course, it had many players but also lots of content, and super immersive.

There’s barely ever anyone in Qeynos, Qeynos Hills, or BB

I spent 3 weeks on and off in QHills recently checking a quest off my list. There's people. Beside the earring and the globe campers, The Millers and the Undead ruins are always camped. BB entrance people camping gnolls, inside not full but enough for the regular trains pulling in like always. Then there's around half dozen newbs in the Q/QH zoneline area getting their decayed skeleten on and one or two people looking for pelts.

It's not full full but it's pretty active.

Lots and lots of through traffic too - so lv50 buffs avail pretty much on request.

Sure there’s people here and there. But it’s certainly not one of the most crowded areas of the world

That's not how it was during the first year of actual Everquest. There would constantly be over 100 people actively hunting between Qeynos Hills + Blackburrow. Every single static spawn in Qeynos Hills and the top area + first lower part of Blackburrow, and even most of the deeper areas, were perma camped (and DPS was king, it was a race to see who got more damage on a mob as soon as it popped). People would be running around Qeynos Hills scouring for the limited amount of roaming things to kill.

Would you suggest a young Eru wizard make his way to Qeynos? Not 100% sure where to begin at, or just hustle through at tox.

I definitely would for Green server. If you're on the other servers then you have The Warrens, but I still prefer Blackburrow, and the West Karana bandits when you gain some more levels. Although if you're not on Green server, it will probably be difficult to find people to group with for West Karana :(.

Awesome, thanks. Yeah I’m on green, I just signed level 4 about to sell my bone chips I farmed from level 1-4 in Nro newbie area and find a port.

While in game, another suggested I should consider steam font also(As it’s a shorter run and safer), is it as viable?

If you want fast loot and full bags in your bank and character slots before level 10, Steamfont has Tool Boxes at the windmills for 7gp and plenty of outdoor vendors for selling. It also feeds into the sisters camp in LFay for some classes so raw plat & exp VS raw plat & quest exp.

I seem to recall someone making a pretty good case for Ogres with lizard meat and fifes or flutes or something.

Ogre lizard meat and lizard tails are both very good for levels 1-5 or so both for cash and XP, but they don't have any of the quests for getting into the mid teens like the qeynos area does as far as I know.

I would not recommend this, but I ground a warrior up to level 10 on nothing but the low level lizards, which resulted in enough plat to self forge a full set of banded and halberd. It also took like 20 hours, so not exactly the fastest path to 10. Pretty quick 1-5 though, slowed down a lot after that.

There are other quests that are nice, but nothing like gnoll teeth for a newbie. My question is are we back to blue level quest exp or are we still operating under the nerfed quest xp that was in at the launch of green?

Hi, I'm new too) What class would you recommend to play for your pleasure. Otherwise I often give up games because I get bored

Qeynos and surrounding area is great. The only issue is the black hole of porting locations, closest is NK for druids and that's still a 15 minute run with sow. (And good luck finding a wizard to port/evac WK).

TBH it's hard to find people to group with in WK on Green too. If there are people in the bandit level range, they are usually soloing and will decline any offer to group since they don't want to share sashes and don't want to harm their exp per hour. The exception is if you are a class that can provide some CC then they might consider duoing with you.

I thought they nerfed them on Blue too because they found a source that said the values weren't classic?
