Is Dartain immune to magic? Or maybe just immune to mez? I tried soloing him recently; Forlorn Deeds and Rapture wouldn’t land in melee range. Thanks!

You would have to check his level to see if mez would even land. IIRC they buffed his MR because as a shaman I needed Malo + Tash to reliably slow him. But it used to be easier when he only had the chance to drop one item. When they patched him to drop 1-2 items I think they made him have higher MR but high level Tash should be enough I think.

Thanks for the info. I should have mentioned he was tashed in my initial post. He was hitting me for 160, so I’m assuming he’s 55. Rapture is almost unresistable up to level 61, so either I got really unlucky or he is immune to mez. I’ll play around with it a bit and see if I can land anything on him.

I may try to Dictate him, tash, then give him -30 MR in gear, then try to slow after he resets.

He jumped me once whilst I was trying to pop the ghost. I tashed and managed to land a slow after a fair few times and then he ripped thru 2 charmed pets, I still lost. He can be rooted but that doesn't last long either, summons too. Imo he is a lucky rng mob, doable sometimes. Fun fight tho )

I had a similar experience with him resisting slow too many times and having to gate after he was destroying my pet. Is it possible that when he’s holding the book he dual wields similar to what a torch does? Book is primary and secondary but he seemed to be doing a ton of damage.

Mobs over a certain level (53+?) in "old world" zones, including the Hole, are immune to mez and charm. You can see this with some rock golems and undead.

Being a necromancer, he would buff himself with the caster shielding line, so dispelling him first should help a lot when trying to slow or land other spells.
