59 Denon's Bereavement Posion based area effect (caster) - DoT (30 damage every 6 sec for a total of 90 damage), decrease Magic Resist (15), stun

http://crys.org/everquest/spells/bardsongs.asp?minrank=50&maxrank=65

The sources I've looked at say it should last only three ticks, just like Selo's Chords of Cessation.

Also, on this page:
http://replay.web.archive.org/20010711211527/http://everlore.com/magic/Magic.asp?ID=123294&mode=details&spname=Denon%27s+Bereavement&type=

someone claims it should have a recast timer. Is this true?

The post where someone is talking about a "recast timer" on it looks to be running his mouth off a bit. He also claims that the Divine Aura song lasts 30 seconds with a 30 minute recast. I'm not sure how reliable his info can be taken.

According to the second link you provided and these two pages..
http://brisk555666.tripod.com/id7.html
http://twilight.uh-oh.jp/eq/tips/b_song.html (use Google translate)

.. Denon's Bereavement was listed in the spell file as an AE DD/Stun(0.0 sec). However, according to a comment in your second link dated 9/30/2000, it operated as a DoT anyways.

I can't find any confirmation saying this song had a recast timer; in fact, my second link above accurately lists recast times for both Kazumi's Note of Preservation and Brusco's Bombastic Bellow, but says nothing about a recast timer on Denon's Bereavement.

fair enough, but what about the length of the dot? It seems to be lasting one tick more than it should.

Finally got to test this and Bereavement looks to be lasting 3 server ticks (which is 4 "damage taken" messages), the very same length as other bard DoTs. Tried it both with and without lute to see if it somehow affected it, but had no difference in DoT length.

It does stun mobs, which I'm not sure is correct. At least on live it doesn't appear to stun mobs anymore (some reports state that it still stuns in PvP), but the removal of stun could have been changed anytime between Kunark and present. This probably warrants some more research.

Selo's Chords of Cessation lasts for only 3 damage taken messages, and the link says that Denon's Bereavement should too, so (a) clearly it's not that strange and (b) there's evidence for it.

Ah, but Selo's Chords of Cessation is special in that it only lasts 2 server ticks (3 damage messages), shorter than our other DoTs. Denon's Bereavement is a normal length DoT at 3 server ticks (4 damage messages).

For Bereavement to be only 3 damage messages, it would mean all our other normal length DoTs (chants, etc) would also only be 3 damage messages (the site you linked calculates DoT damage with this assumption; see chant spell listings). This would be a pretty big change - and if we go down that road, it would probably be a good idea to find another source that corroborates it first. There are too many sites out there with bad bard info for me to trust any single one alone.

I know those are live but still shows that selo's is 2 ticks vs denon's 3. Don't see why they would have raised denon's at some point but not selo's

So i'd have to say I'm with gerlon on this, I'd like to see a patch note or something substantial vs forum posts.
