I haven't hardly been able to play for a long time so not 100% sure when this started happening as the sound worked fine before, but I was messing around tonight and had no sound whatsoever. The sound in game(alt-o) is ll at appropriate levels, the sound= true is set in the eqclient file. The sound button is enabled in the options menu when you open the options in the initial splash screen before you log in.

So, umm, what in the world is up here?

Tried obvious stuff like rebooting and saw a fewpeople had solved it by closing certain programs like realtek and whatever other sound related programs you might have. So I closed all those in task manager and only have the most basic stuff running. Does nothing for the problem.

according to this thread people have used a program called Codec Tweak Tool (https://www.codecguide.com/download_other.htm) (not tested my myself, run the installer through virustotal just to be sure also)

Alright, I FINALLY solved the sound issue! Just in case anyone else similar issues, here is what did it in the end.

I downloaded a program called Codec Tweak Tool. Within the program you can click Fixes, and there is an option to "Reset Windows Audio Mixer volume settings for all applications". This solved the issue and got sound back for me. Why? I'm not sure, but at least it worked.

If that doesn't work I'll dig around the forums again.

Edit: Can you verify that your client isn't muted in the windows mixer.

Hey, thanks. That actually worked. Pretty weird the sound just decided to die for no apparent reason in the first place. No time to play anymore though, sadly. Oh well leat it's working fo next time.

Thank you, Baler, using the Codec Tweak Tool fixed the sound issue for me.
