Woodsman staff is your best weapon until epics everyone says. Its just way overtuned ;p

Woodsman's has the better ratio. Personally I'd prefer a weapon with stats that another class could use later, like Jade Inlaid Crescent Axe. I don't like that Woodsman's is Ranger only, as it's a hard resell later.

Your 1hers are fine, lots of weapons are good for that role:

Jagged Blade of Mourning
Sarnak Backstabber
Jade Mace
Lamentation
Lupine Dagger

Etc, etc.

Lupine Dagger / Winter's Fury would be a pretty good combo.

what about dual lamentations ? nice little boost to str and stamina also

That's what I use. Excellent placeholders for the Epic.

From my experience, woodman's was better than most 1h combos until about 52 or 53 when they started to even out. Keep 1hs, 2hs, 1hb, and piercing for skill ups but other than that, use the woodman's. Should be able to get VS stone mid 50s and get the first epic without too much trouble.

For 1h just go cheap with good ratio. Jade mace, lammy, Lupine dagger if you can find one. 2h you can stick with silver swiftblade for fast skill ups or the one that procs slow.

Woodsman's til Epic is all you need.

My ranger used lupine dagger and wurmslayer before epics. You could probably use that haste sword in secondary (with wurmslayer primary) before the lupine dagger begins to proc.

I still use wurmslayer for HoT and Gwurms cos what else could be more appropriate?

if i remember correctly, while i was leveling my ranger (to level 30 to make it an ec mule that can sow + dual wield katanas) the Woodsman Staff outperformed even a swiftblade of zek combo.

Wood staff is the way to go until 50s.

Woodsman is great. if you insist on being modular, massive velium brawl stick is about the same cost, small decrease in ratio, useable by just about anybody, or if you can't stand the ratio reduction, go find an exquisite velium brawl stick.
Any of those 3 will beat the crap out of any dual wield combo until the 50's....at which point everybody you're grouping with will be looking at you sideways until you switch to a warrior. Plus if you insist on using your mana offensively like a shaman, it's nice to have a big slow swing to spellcast in between.

Sadly I can attest woodsman works until 58 with dragon haste.

Yea the push for 1h is fun but your skill caps (dual wield) don’t really justify it. If you can bag a Swiftwind at 46 I say go nuts.
