Sunburn in the Summer

tldr: I got a wicked sun burn today working outside.

I put some aloe on the red spots..
Anyone have any products or remedies they swear by for sunburn?

Super cheap and simple. I'd use aloe gel to treat the burn and use the lotion daily.

Researchers have studied the heavy black robes worn by Bedouins in the desert. They say the key there is thickness. The outer layer of fabric does get hotter because the black color absorbs more heat. And that heat doesn't get transmitted to the skin because of the thick fabric.

But thin black clothing transmits that heat to the skin, making a person hotter.

^ oversized XXL thick robes all the way brother. I'm not super fond of the thin fine stuff cuz it sticks to my skin and isn't super protective. It's more a class symbol.

Big fan of long thick lose sleeves like an oversized BDU. I think the Bedewin robes while thick have a loose weave though which lets the air flow through and keeps you dry. While BDUs tend to get sticky cuz they are machine knit and don't breath that well. The pants will inflate with air if that's any indication of how poorly they ventilate.

Sunscrean is nice but:

It only delays burning. And it doesn't do much for you after your burnt. Use a light mudbased cake around your eyes. That is all natural and easy to re-apply.

It's expensive. And doesn't last for a really long time. Sometimes it's hard to get it in your ass crack where many white men tend to burn.

Zinc sunscreen will blot out the sun. Probably not much relevant help here as getting experience with sun would require logging off and stepping outside.

When I went out to do yardwork I just did the big beach hat, and big glasses look, worked good, I also mowed at around 8-10am or 6pm my time.

Remedies: None. Don't need any, it goes away on its own.

Products? I do outdoor work in normal clothes: shirt with a full collar, full length trousers, and a wide brim hat. Decent hats are hard to find these days; I have to have mine sized and made to order at a local hat shop. You want the full brim to protect the ears and back of the neck. If you go that route buy fur felt; cotton or wool hats leak and don't last. Works for me, haven't had any undue sunburn-related problems in years.

She's every bit as pale as me and her kid isn't much darker. That made me sad, because I've heard sun burns as a child do worse damage than they do later on in life and I told her that, but I don't know enough about having melanin or UV damage to really judge her parenting.

Being outside in the sun sans sunscreen is good you just have to ease into it

As a pale person who has on many occasions walked rode or ran down various streets and places completely naked (proof on my youtube) I know my sun protection. I find creams work better then sprays, SPF means absolutely nothing, and if you already have a burn, there isn't much you can do. Aloe is the best option but its still not a good option compared to not having been burned in the first place (you already had your cells burst open from the radiation damage so you just have to basically heal it). If you grow your own aloe you fillet it like a fish. I like this guy's video:

except I don't like the concept of eating it.

Just make sure to slather yourself in sunblock whenever you will be in the sun and don't forget to do that.

Also, if you cover your whole body in sunblock when you go outside naked it gives you that slightly shiny appearance that bodybuilders try to get. That's another cool perk.
