The r99 playerbase happened. You can say he has thin skin or whatever, but at the end of the day this is a volunteer project. He got flamed to fuck by Lite and others in the thread, and then a month ago some r99 guild leader I've never heard of made laughable threats about reporting him to Daybreak [who isn't even the studio EQ is with now?] for "rmt". Can't imagine wanting to invest any free time into r99 with that response, even if the boards make up only a fraction of the playerbase.

I saw rogean this weekend training for the 2021 Paris-Dakar rally in the mojave desert near twenty-nine palms marine base in cali. He was riding a 90's KTM LC4 with the huge safari tanks. He was drinking natural spring water he gathered himself and filtered through his berkey water filter which he keeps in a yurt. He had the bike rigged up with a speaker so he could blast "all souls night" by loreena mckennit on full repeat during 12 hr endurance riding sessions.

When I spoke to him he told me that all of these things he was doing were to prepare for brown 99.

I think it is imminent, I would expect corroborative confirmation here, also imminently.

Well, to be fair, he has made some questionable statements both in favor of and against the development of a new p99 pvp project, which make people wonder out loud in threads like these

we (those of us interested in red 2.0) are kind of beholden to him if we want to continue this as a hobby, as I personally am not very enthusiastic about continuing on the current red server for several reasons likewise I am incapable of going out and building my own "p99" style pvp server, and those who have tried end up with a (imho) inferior product i.e. RoZ.

I'd just like a little developer engagement on the topic either way. But I'm fairly confident that won't happen and I'm beginning to agree with more of Bigsham's posts every day.

If pop hit 0 on red and stayed that way for some time, like two weeks.

I can garantee you all the characters would get merged to blue in order to keep the promise of 'no wipe'.

And red would die. And likely never exist again. The 20-30 people who play here already play on RoZ and would likely just stay there and not clammer for a new red anymore. We would go pretty silently into the night.

That said, if reds hardware were to be recycled, it should go to another red server. That is the only justice this universe can offer. Though life is never fair, and the universe isn't held accountable by us mere mortals.

Most of the people on red right now don't care about pvp. They want to raid without interference. In their dragon loot to gear their alts on a server where they don't have to fight with bluebies on /lists. PvP is not in most current active red99'ers blood. it's entirely secondary, and some of us still find it amusing, fun, but most of us don't bother seeking it anymore. Those of us who don't have +100 hp mana rings on our wizards aren't really here to pvp either. No point. Other than to be a target and laugh when we get owned for sitting afk.

Red99 was the sweet spot in terms of XP gains. It let you enjoy a few different classes if you were normal hours kind of player.

People on PVE servers can be rude, nasty, toxic to you.. because they know there is nothing you can really do to them.

On a PVP server, from my experience, yes you have people who want to kill you... but MOST people are very friendly and everyone shares and cooperates. (This doesn't take into account drug boxes like roz where everyone has 14 accounts they boxed up)

It's like prison. Yes, there are bad fights once in a while, but usually everyone is very respectful to each other because they know they can get their brains bashed in or get shanked. PVE servers is like highschool girls drama.

This has been my experience more or less. Played on pally on RZ for a year and then rolled a Cleric on TZ which I played for 4 years after that. Tons of people out to kill on both servers but plenty more willing to help you for nothing in return. Was not uncommon at all for people to just ask for and get help from randoms for help with a quest even if it'd put them out considerably.

Remember once rezzing some lvl 52 gnome rogue doing the pickpocket part of the epic in Neriak a hundred times cause they didn't have the skill to do it. Met them that day and didn't get anything in return. Eventually I saw them them de-leveled few weeks later one-shotting low lvls and shouting out each kill. Saw them get buffed and gang up on her a few times. Can't imagine playing on a server where stuff like that doesn't happen every day.
