Rogean: Resolved an issue with Bellycasting.
What is Bellycasting?
I've seen a lot of bellyaching on here but not that.

A bad mechanic, but classic
You must be in melee range of a bellycasting mob to land spells on it.

What makes it a bad mechanic?

Ranged class should, ya know, range.

But it's a bit unfair to pick on 20 year old video game design. It's classic :)

Probably a classic way to keep people from nuking mobs they got stuck under a rock and stuff.

Bellycasting is a good mechanic. It makes people think about what they have to do, avoid an AoE, and plan out their strategy of either tashing, slowing, or debuffing. For all the people cheering about how rooted dragons "makes people play the game now", they should be happy it exists.

Ranged class should, ya know, range. that seems a little static to me. Adding a minimum range to spells seems a more effective way to enforce that.
Personally I like the belly casting mechanic, i found it a surprising and interesting mechanic when my shaman first came across it on live. It really conveyed the sense of power of these monsters that they were completely immune to magic unless you were brave and powerful enough to face them toe to toe.
Thats just my opinion, obviously you’re entitled to yours and I thank you for sharing it.
