For R99 server to thrive (any ruleset, any level of stillbirth and corruption) the R99 community will need to be not 2x less toxic than blue, but like 20x less toxic in order to keep the PVP blood flowing. It needs to be the best community that ever existed in a psychosis inducing highly addictive depression causing MMO.

You got any proof this MMO causes any of that?

I think like anything people who already have problems just gravitate to something that they prefer. In this case a lot of us like elfs, some of us halflings. Just don't think this is a causation == correlation type scenario.

If EQ did not exist I would probably be better off, but I would definitely have found other ways to get in trouble with my already warped psyche.

I personally feel that EQ has helped mitigate the damage I may otherwise have caused others and even been a little healing in red99s case. As, I have found other misfits who I no longer like to really abuse here. I still like hate the bluebies and greenies especially, but you guys as abusive and insane as u could possibly be are like family to me. I may say 'frak u big bundle of sticks' every once in awhile because you don't understand Indiana Jjones references, but its definitely nothing personal and not coming from a dark place. Like it is when I want to DA train an entire bluebie zone.

This quote is getting too strong.

My science is based on my own experience.

There is lots of 1999 period bullshit studies on the subject though.

Here is first google result I found, related to EQ2 https://www.wired.com/2008/09/study-gamers-no/

I agree that the game itself may attract people of a certain type, rather than cause people to become depressed, or whatever.

So, yeah, my quote is probably dumb.

The point is that we can see that EQ community is not the most healthy straight forward clear thinking group of logical geniuses. A lot of people here have various problems, and we are trying to make a decent gaming community built out of those people.

Folks that are drawn to what they may have played in 2001 and finding themselves here may be a particular type of person with a particular type of problems which may make it even harder to make a good community.

I base these assumptions off the absolutely heinous threads we see on blue forum about deep lawyerquesting and the way people are fighting over dragon pixels. It makes me very uncomfortable to see those kinda threads.

Which is why I think red99 is a healthier community. The posts are better. The way we can interact (kill) eachother makes the game better.

We have all seen people go off the immersion deep end and we know that too much EQ can be hard on people, for one reason or another. Certainly it degrades ones ability to do normal life stuff, just because the game can consume so much time.

But yeah, I'm just talking out of bristlebanes ass here.

Love you Gustoo, thanks for clarifying these deep thoughts for me. Yes.

Red99 is the much better community. If I make fun of someone in game for not knowing the "No ticket" meme we are much less likely to macequest and much more likely to /ooc banter and pvp one another over it. At the end of the day we will probably both roll alts and not even know the other person is the person we are supposed to despise and end up becoming good pals.

the gov 'inspired' videos games to test their affects on mental manipulation.
Everquest was owned by SONY who has strong ties to gov.

I'm not saying that i'm saying eq was a large scale test...
Ultima Online was a case study.

Why do you think we're so addicted to a 'video game' from 1999

Yeah, there are actually a few different studies going on in EQ. The government definitely data mined us to learn how to control us.
