What are the pro and con of Troll vs. Ogre?

Also, which is the best deity for Troll or Ogre?

All points to Dex or agility because str and stamina is basically automatically maxxed.

Troll is better than ogre due to the changes on p99 to FSI, the regen is pretty OP in classic and I'm guessing till velious. I went troll I love it, buuuuuuuuuuut having hide and sneak, You would probly use it every game session. A few times on CR runs, you have ziltch for option's

Is the dwarven cultural in the game on green yet? A dwarf war with that armor should have better than ogre stats and not have to deal with being a fatty.

I have a 50's Halfling Warrior on blue and a 30's Troll Warrior on green. I've also played Ogre Shadow Knights in the past, so I have some experience in tanking with these races.

Ogre is the best raid and often the best group race for Warrior imho. FSI makes it easier to get and hold aggro. For certain raids, if you're using clickies to generate aggro, the FSI is also somewhat less compelling, but still strong. The stats are obviously best in class.

Troll is very good as well. FSI is usually better than regen, but in some circumstances the regen will be superior, such as for small groups light on healing. The stats are a close second.

Halfling is just awesomely convenient. Small size makes getting through dungeons a breeze, hide makes AFKs while regening hp or lfg relatively safe, sneak lets you sell, bank and bind virtually anywhere, not to mention helps get through dungeons, and lastly the exp bonus means you need almost 20% less exp than the big evil races to level. The stats aren't bad, but not quite top tier. Late in Kunark you do get the benefit of being able to wear that sweet sweet dwarven cultrual armor which closes the gap. Another big downside is having to sub in a shield to bash things until 55, which is a drag.

Can't go wrong with any of them imho. Do what you think looks cool.

Why would you be grateful for +dex on an ogre in Velious?

Dexterity + Focus of Spirit + Avatar + Boon of Garou + VoG : there is a lot of potential + dex just through buffs in Velious, and the gear by then is swimming in stats. I can see the value of your advice pre Velious, but what am I overlooking here for the Velious era? I don't have a high level ogre, let alone ogre warrior, to draw my own experience from.

Dexterity + Focus of Spirit + Avatar + Boon of Garou + VoG : there is a lot of potential + dex just through buffs in Velious, and the gear by then is swimming in stats. I can see the value of your advice pre Velious, but what am I overlooking here for the Velious era? I don't have a high level ogre, let alone ogre warrior, to draw my own experience from.

Warrior building agro they want that high dex. This is why they are buffed with Mortal Deftness. There are other buffs that would fill that slot but increasing proc chance is important enough to warrent only a plus dex buff in a slot.

Come velious STR/STA will be easily capped. Leaving DEX,AGI,CHA

AGI will never be as amazing as people hoped it would be on p99
CHA kind of got 'nerfed', see the cleric cheat death spell.

Min/Max = Ogre Warrior + All Points Dex

TL/DR - Frontal Stun Immunity + higher Chance to Proc = more agro
P99 has a classic limit on the number of Buffs a player can have.
