My network is solid, i have no packet loss, latency is around 10-14 ms, I have "keep alive" activated on my router so no matter what it keeps packets moving to trick the network adapters to think i am always doing something. I am a NOC Engineer for Comcast Enterprise and i deal with networks all day long. Who host's this server? Formally daybreak? Or are we playing off a server in someones house? Where is it located in the US? Can we upgrade to an SD-WAN environment so the cloud can adjust resources on the fly in relation to bandwidth need? I read that these servers cant handle much more the 1500+ that they weren't built for that much traffic. Is this true? Can i assist in giving money to upgrade servers? Can i help work with the ISP to find the packet loss on your server? I cannot play and it sucks. I love this game but im at the end of the rope about to call it quits. It worked fine for weeks possibly months until that patch was done at 2am. I re-copied Version 53 into the file and replaced all files encase you guys did some work. I have used multiple PC's still same issue. Funny thing is it doesn't effect other people, i assume due to ISP's priority, maybe DNS servers which i have changed, flushed, and renewed, Hard lined, wired, used wire-shark to capture packets to inspect the dropped connection to the server. Please allow me to help or please can you take a look when its convenient for you guys but i know there are lots of other people out there who are experiencing the same issue and would do anything to get it fixed. Id even pay you guys 5$ a month to play this game if we could ensure things like this don't happen or if they do that they are fixed right away we have roughly a 1400 people fan base that plays everyday if they all paid 5$ an hour that's $70,000.00 a year which is not a bad salary for a entry level network engineer to be on full time or just a well rounded engineer.
Also from reading the log can you tell me where during the sign on process i got disconnected?

please describe your issue as a bug report like we assume you boot a fresh box and then what steps do you take to reach the error condition and what are you observing on the screen when it happens

OK, i just rebooted my pc, minimal programs are running firewall has permissions for eqgame.exe,EQemulaunch.exe, wineq.exe in bound and outbound all traffic. I have Eqgame.exe in my C: drive (root directory) set to compatibility mode windows XP Service pack 2 and to automatically run in admin mode. I have no anti virus programs running, no malware programs running. Just windows and its processes as of now. I have a 1 gig Ethernet connection hard-lined into my PC. I use Eqemulauncher.exe in admin mode. I log into the server selection screen no issues at all. I get to the character selection and some times it lets me just fine and i get to play for an hour or so. Then at some point when i zone it locks up and i can hit Alt Ctrl Delete and then sign off is the only way to close the program down with out a reset. BUT after that happens once and i try to go log back in, it freezes up right as i click join world or what ever the name of the button is. Pretty much at the character selection screen and when i go to join the game it just freezes up. No error, nothing. As if it were timing out or waiting for an ack/sync. The time that i am able to log in. It will freeze for maybe 10 seconds and then the loading bar will appear and that's when its looking for the acknowledgement from the server in the handshake between my machine and the server. Then when it doesn't receive that it times out and then a list if errors happen. I keep all drivers up to date, have limited my pc to 1 cpu as well and then 2 and 3 and so forth. No changes in that. Wineq.exe will do the exact same thing as well. So i know its not EQemulauncher.exe. I spent over 10 hours the other day trying to trouble shoot the issue, I found the common ports and the server IP address and can ping the server, which in my opinion you guys need to disable ping on that server IP cause you're just begging for a DDOS attack. Maybe that's partial issue people know that IP and are trying to trouble shoot and are pinging and its overloading that server who knows. At this point im so just disappointed and upset i give up. I use Comcast internet. The other odd thing is my RL buddy i play with doesn't have these issues he gets booted when he logs on another alt that it.

The past few times I was able to get into the world and instead of disconnecting I was in a lag loop . then I finally got disconnected. only started after this last patch. we still are in version or revision 53 right? There isn't a 54? other than that I reset all factory defaults in the firewall,malware and then manually turned everything off. Didnt help, then turned them back on made exceptions. nothing. Doesnt matter if its EQemu or wineq.i checked video card drivers,network adapters, resolution hasn't changed, nor has refresh rate. swapped cat 6 cable straight into the modem, nothing. dont know what to do next

I'd never even heard of "Eqemulauncher.exe" until this post. Does anyone else here use that launcher? I just run the default Titanium install and have a shortcut to launch titanium.bat.
On to the topic - people frequently have issues where their ISP's routing table changes (usually temporarily) and they lose the ability to see servers on server select or fail to enter world. Have you ruled this out by attempting to tether to a hotspot or use a VPN?
As to your question about the servers' load - populations of 1500-2000+ were common back in '99-2000. The devs bought new hardware in 2019 for the purpose of supporting green. I can't imagine how they'd manage to procure a server that's less capable than one from 20 years ago. My personal one runs on a ~15 year old box (PE 2950) and with every zone instance running (every zone from titanium mind - not just limited to velious) it's at under 10% cpu and 25% memory utilization. This includes the overhead introduced by esxi, and storage delays because I'm usually running it with an active snapshot because I'm in the process of breaking something.

I will flush my routing table and see if that does helps. I did a DNS release /renew same with ip release /renew. I have not tried through a VPN. That will be my next attempt after the routing table flush. Thank you that's one thing I did not think about.

It's a batch file (screenshot) with content of (screenshot2). Your compatibility mode settings should be defined on eqgame.exe.

that eqclient.ini looks reasonable to me. not sure how it got the .txt extension as attached here.
You should definitely try using launch_titanium.bat instead of any other executable

Before the patch I used to crash while zoning almost every time (for the last year or so). I haven't crashed since patch day. So something definitely changed. In my case i'm not complaining.

Did you ever try a vpn? Connectivity issues affect a small percentage of users - I've never had a problem in several years now.

You can also create a shortcut of eqgame.exe, set compatibility to XP SP2, put the target in quotations and add patchme at the end.
Right click eqgame.exe shortcut > Properties > Shortcut tab
Target: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony\EverQuest\eqgame.exe" patchme
That will launch the EQ program without any other 3rd party tools.
Have you used a different modem/router altogether (like a hotspot) to see if issue persists?

It's an old issue. I never got a resolution on it either and its been bad enough to effectively keep me off of P99 for over a year.

Get rid of eqemu, wineq2 and use the titanium.bat file in the everquest folder. right click create a desktop shortcut. then click the short cut do the whole windows XP services 2 compatibility. allow inbound and outbound in firewall and any other programs you use. I have not disconnected once. Those other programs they mention on the P99 forum are trash your essentially connecting into a server that connects to the EQ server. So theirs an extra hop on the network and if the service you signed into say EQemulauncher server is slow or has packet loss or low bandwidth your connection to the EQ server will be trash and unreliable. Do yourself an favor delete that junk and only launch from the titanium.bat file.

At the time this was originally going on. I attempted to use the bare client and WinEQ2. Also tried 2 computers within the same home network and a full reinstall of the client. None of those things worked for me. The only solution which did work was a VPN. I did not test running the client from a different ISP but I suspect it would have had the same effect.
Sometime between when I last posted in the technical discussion about this and about a week ago this problem magically corrected itself on its own. I haven't made any changes to my EQ install, still using WinEQ2, router config is still the same, etc.

yeah it's all network related policies per device amount of hops to each server, bandwidth the vpn could bring you closer to your ISP backbone, or the winEQ server it also bypasses router policies in firewall and router. all traffic is treated the same in a VPN pretty much, generalized policies.

WHELP GUESS WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS POS Back to doin the same Fin Sh**. for F Sakes ever bought a Fin VPN and NOT SHI. I Bought all new cables re-wired the house new modem, switch, tried VLANS, port forwarding everything. Running off the Titanium.bat piece of Sh and i constantly am having packed loss to the dam servers. NOT MY HOUSE!!!! ROLL BACK TO V52!!!!!!!! just wasted months, weeks of my life trying to relive a childhood dream and all it has done is pissed me off beyond belief and caused me so much stress i want to beat something with a bat. I mean are you using the legacy servers from 1999 or what?

i'll tell you whats up, the truth. two parties hold the blame for this. First its the shitty netcode they use here on p99, which seems like it cant even handle a single packet drop because it's game-over when that happens. So why are the packets dropping? That brings us to the second party - your ISP. Simply explain to them that you are having issues with a specific destination, so they can look into the routing. Give them tracerts to help them diagnose where the fuck your traffics going

I've had the same issues past few weeks, only a vpn connection works for me.
Sometimes I can log to server select and see the server lists without VPN, but won't log me onto them, Sometimes when it does and I get to the char select screen, it might crash out on loading the game and even then if I manage to get that far and I am finally in game, when I zone it will crash me.
Its defo a network routing problem, I thought it was my AI protection built into my Asus router at first that was somehow blocking as it just got worse over the past weeks, disabled it and it worked, just a coincidence tho, its back to this bullshit of unable to to do anything unless I use VPN.
I reside in Singapore for all its worth.
Good luck in your quest, there is others that have this problem.

Think server has big issues today. High latency, lot of zone crashes, cannot log into server.
Seems fine to me ~1200 people on and ~40 in the zone I'm in:

I recently started having this same issue 3 days ago. Locks up while zone loading and sometimes from char select load. I tried using my phone through Verizon instead of my home network through ATT and it fixed the issue. Switched back to ATT and 1st zone after log in froze up. It's def packet drops for certain ISPs routes. That is why VPN works for some people as well. There is also a long thread from 2016 where a bunch of people all using ATT had this issue.
