There were threads like this every single day up until red99 launch, the campaign was strong.

I came to EQ EMU because I heard about the legit and manly item loot guildwars serve. I found out that it was long gone, and started playing shards of dalaya. I was smashed vehemently in requests for PVP shards server, and so started doing the lords work here.

Now the pvp server is? 8? 10? years old. For about half of that or more people have been begging for a wipe because of the bad launch, unresponsive staff, corruption, generally high levels of toxic.

Now rumors are confirmed that a new server 2.0 is going to happen, eventually.

Good times ahead.

The existing server is still an amazing example of an emulated server, in fact its the best of its kind anywhere, to my knowlege. The playerbase for red doesn't have the passion and the community isn't strong enough to make R99 a good community.

We can see that the blue 99 community is insanely toxic as well, I would argue that it is more toxic. The difference is that there is a critical mass of non PVP everquest players to keep the non PVP servers active and alive.

For R99 server to thrive (any ruleset, any level of stillbirth and corruption) the R99 community will need to be not 2x less toxic than blue, but like 20x less toxic in order to keep the PVP blood flowing. It needs to be the best community that ever existed in a psychosis inducing highly addictive depression causing MMO.

Otherwise we will need fresh starts pretty often despite best efforts.

Magnetaress efforts are very solid and good. I do my part as well and if I could get active playtime I would be doing it in the game more often.

Keep up the good work team.

We all have to realize we play here for free and when they feel like making a new server or doing something with the pvp community ...they will. They aren't obligated to do jack, truly. Until then if you still play on red go head and have fun. Heck, play other servers, other games etc. Diablo 2 PVP emus are fun, anarchy online is free, daoc is free, eq2 is free ( they have a PVP server I think) war hammer, elder scrolls online is free I think, Age of Conan has PVP go play a time line progression server on live ... Keep your self entertained until they open up our new server. I even have a heavy PVP game on my iPhone called World Of Kings lol

I just started DAOC Phoenix. However EQ is the best!!! I would love to see a 99 Red Server, especially with a month more of quarantine... I used to play Vallon Zek, but moved to Sullon Zek which had the better ruleset. Three teams is perfect.

Popular opinion here is that rallos zek with item loot is by far the best but a custom 2 team setup makes most sense for a teams server in addition to the Sullon zek pvp engagement rules (no restriction)

I've already said this but when our kids are 80 its gonna be project2020 and they try to emulate the emulator were running now but on the neural net. Forced ui on the neural is going to be really tough.

I like actual classic UI.

The UI on green is P bad and requires a lot of customization to be usable. The way it doesn't function with transparency sliders is terrible. I know that background colors can be set. Different dialog boxes all needing individual customization sucks.

I also had a lot of problems with the night blindness lighting modification and haven't recently tried it out to see how it runs.

Must be OK because complaint threads have dried up.

There are a lot of casual scum on red now. PvP will never happen unless we open a teams server. Most people just farm up to 'impossible resists' then halp their friends and RP elves. Which surprisingly is what I fought for for years, now that we have it, I am not so sure...

----- I don't think the staff has to try that hard to load a red v2.0 instance on the same box running red 1.0 its probably a virtual machine on someones pocket calculator teathered to an Elon Musk satellite and I know some of the evil hackers here know how to do these kinds of things. Red99 sure sometimes feels like I am connecting from orbit, very classic.

I believe the biggest issue with a new teams server is a lack of guides.

I want to guide pretty bad, I also like playing the game, I am willing to sit logged in on Mendasillia 2.v3a if I can box a character on blue and green and tab over to the petition queue on pinkish 2.1a every 1hr30 mins or so.

Yet I doubt the staff would trust me they are probably horrified at the aspect of giving me any kind of privileged account lol. :( Don't blame them either, I earned my stripes here.

I grew up on VZ in a shorty-only guild called Happy Litte Hug Factory. Guild rule required members to stop whatever they were doing and fight if they encountered anyone taller then a dwarf. Can't really recapture those days but I'd love to give it a try!

Surely we could create some kind of triumvirate of server deities where these three could duke it out matrix style and players could pick sides? Just disable item creation and teleportation privileges, enable ban privileges and commands, maybe on some kind of cooldown. Let them DT the infidels from the opposing sides. They will eventually sort it out and enforce some kind of order on the server. Each guild leader gets to pick an avatar of an EQ god and play as that god(dess)... in game. Everyone else serves at their behest.
