also lv 47 Niv's Melody, can't find this one either.... what's the deal with these missing songs? I can't find any information on why these aren't in game.

Does anyone know if there is any update? I have been unsuccessful in finding all of the missing songs mentioned in this thread.

Are you sure you are checking the correct merchants? I purchased all of these songs on my bard where listed in the wiki.

You were able to purchase the lvl 39 bard charm song?

Veleria...are you on Green or Blue? The songs I referenced are missing from Green as far as I know...I've asked multiple high level bards and none of them could find these songs either.

Yes, confirmed by multiple people that the merchants who are supposed to sell these songs do not actually have them available for sale on green.

I filed a petition and was told that chances are the songs are out-of era, but I thought bards had a song for EVERY level at release - does anyone know if that is correct?

In any case, it sounds like the only way to get it fixed is to either provide evidence that they are not out-of-era (I have not been successful in that task), or to have other bards confirm that the songs were in-game in classic EQ.

When green first launched there was research done on spells and songs. Proof was found that certain songs were not available in classic. If you look at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1hitwgB6EtDa0kAY56CRhJKX7U6T2HeT55Mja0XIqfSY/edit#gid=0 you will see that we get:

Shield of Song - November 2000 era
Niv's - February 2000 era
Solon's Bravura - April 2000
Jonthan's Provocation - April 2000

Thanks much! Just what I was looking for.

Thanks Millers, this is the info I was looking for. Not sure the exact timeline that we will get these songs but good to actually see evidence that these songs were not actually in game at launch. I was under the impression that we got 1 song per level at launch.

Seems a bit lame that bards currently can't charm mobs levels > 37.

It is very lame and it is because of bullshit classic rules that only qualify for the things they want classic.

Yep and using the way back machine the oldest posts are unviewable and I’m almost certain if we could access this data we’d see the level 39 bard song is a classic song not a Kunark song like wtf lol. Bards got one song per level in classic duh.

Well if we can’t get this song on time atleast it Looks like we should get A few months of this song costing only 5 mana.

From a GZ Q&A back in Nov 99:

Q: Why are there no Bard Songs for Bard levels 39, 45, 47 and 49?

A: When we were finishing up the Bard class, we wanted to leave some room for expansion during the evolution of EverQuest. Because Bards get one song per level, if we had given them all fifty songs there would have been no room for expansion - aside from taking away older songs.

Expect to see new songs coming soon. These songs will not be anything that radically redefines the Bard class - but they will be additions that help keep the Bard interesting at high levels.

cheers,

Astuce

I still believe these songs dropped right before Kunark not after and I will find proof eventually.... but the 3 months of only 5 mana cast would be dope regardless. Kunark didn’t release til like March, 2000? I suspect bards got the new songs December/Jan of 1999/2000.

Since you do a lot of good work for bards and classic EQ in general, I decided to save you to the research on this.

Using snapshots of the front page of the concert hall with the wayback machine:

https://web.archive.org/web/20001207083000/http://www.attcanada.net/~reaper/index.html

We can determine precisely when the songs were released:

Level 47 Song: Niv's Melody of Preservation is February 18th, 2000.
Level 39 Song: Solon's Bewitching Bravura is April 9th, 2000.
Level 45 Song: Jonthan's Provocation is also April 9th, 2000.
KUNARK launches on April 24th, 2000.
Level 49 Song: Shield of Songs is November 13th, 2000.
VELIOUS launches on December 5th, 2000.

cheers,

Astuce

Be sure to fix/update the wiki appropriately if it's wrong. :)
