Upgrading to the Alienware Area 51M laptop for other games and general productivity.
i9 9900k (8 core)
32GB RAM
970 Plus 1TB NVMe
RTX 2080
Clearly overbuilt for p99, but just curious if I may run into any troubles running the game. Some say that the processor needs to be dialed back to run off one or two cores. Some say it doesn't matter.
EQ won’t run if the GPU is > 4.2 ghz

9900 is 3.6 and can be o/c to 5.0 so should be good. thanks for the feedback, argh.
That’s really the only issue you’ll run into (I think). The multi core affinity thing is an easy fix.

Might almost be able to handle the dynamic lighting!

Yes
Okay, because I run a hex core at 4.6 with no issues.

Nice build! I went with the AMD route, 3950x and much simillar specs. Absolutely love it. My system is more for 3D workflows though, and sadly won't be gaming much. You're going to love that thing when you get rolling on it!

To be fair, so is your cell phone :D

I gotta say, If you are doing general productivity, you may want to consider the a Ryzen 3 Chip, you give up less than 5% game and single threaded performance to can gain upwards of over 40% performance on multi-threaded workloads.
Unless you're chasing that ultra high FPS (exceeding 144fps) the trade off for Intel in my view isn't worth it. Its also worth noting the Intel's CPU architecture is getting long in the tooth and next gen consoles will be using the a Zen 2 based CPU, so there might be an architectural advantage on AMD for newer games in the near future.
In your budget, you could either save $100 and go with a
3900x (12 core 3.8ghz base 4.6ghz boost) or spend an extra $200 for the 3950X (16core 3.5ghz base 4.8ghz boost)
The 3950X starts to tread into proper high end workstation territory for a consumer level CPU and Moba.
me personally, I have a 3700X and love it, best computer i've ever had

I would suggest a 2080ti to get the most out of EQ.

I recommend you try gaming online, such as roulette table layout (https://betandslots.com/guides/roulette-table/)

Is there no fix for this? I just came back to P99 and I cannot get above about 40FPS....
Ryzen3900x + RTX 3070......

Recently also had a computer update and some features have been blunted. I hope this can be fixed.
