2 boxing has always existed but it came at a risk of being called out and banned. This is an open boxing cause they know the server pop is going to suck. Even with boxes they will not be in the 200+ range week 2. And if you think people are stopping at 2box lol. I can see Lite boxing 4 ezpz.

It isn't because it is hard to enforce. RoZ has much more gm involvement than Red99 and Secrets helps with anti hacks. They allow 2 boxing because they think it is better game play and almost everyone on the server agrees. It is a small minority that don't like to 2 box. It is just a difference of opinion on what is more fun. People get banned for using 3+ chars. I was always 2 box on red99 and never got caught.

Everquest is a niche game. There is no need or room for more than 1 server of the same type. Even cutting the Project 1999 population in half would produce a less fun experience.

If you get even more specific and look at PvP servers there is really only 1 classic era EQ PvP server in existence outside of Red99, and it is Rise of Zek. Rise of Zek has stated it would be a single box server if the population was high enough. That is a debate that has no end. 1 box vs 2 box, people like one or the other. Some people also like teams and say that would fix everything, or item loot.

I think the real problem is just having a legit brand people trust and then people will go to that server no matter what the rules are. I think Red99 could get the max population achievable for PvP server no matter what product it provided just because of name recognition. You have people on here defending an abandoned project even with all of its flaws and history of corruption just because of the brand Project 1999 has created.

There are a lot of reasons people don't play these EQ PvP servers. It is safe to assume some people that want a 1 box server didn't enjoy Red99 because so many people cheated and they felt they were at a disadvantage.

Rise of Zek has a target for how many people they want to be able to down content. It aims for 18-24 real people. What is nice about that number is you can have a core of 6-10 players recruit another 10 or so people and make a guild. You aren't required to then have 80 people in the guild on a 200 person server just to come up with 40 characters needed to down content.

2 boxing is a solution for a better end game dynamic with low population servers. No one thinks it is ideal and would rather have 1 box with 400-500 population but I think that is a crucial number needed for there to be no issues. A 100-200 player population on a 1 box server will force the 80+ raiders on the server to all be in 1 guild.

This server had 20 people peak during classic 6 months into launch. Your brain is broken.

It took years of Project 1999 blue to build anticipation and hype over Red99 that brought 600 population to only dwindle down to 20 within months because of bugs, exploits, corrupt gms, awful PvP mechanics like resists, no loot, negative exp on death, and whatever else made 95% of the server quit.

PvP mechanics are great on RoZ. The entire server, which has the best players from Red99, all agree. Item loot only griefs off weak minded souls like yourself, everyone likes the item loot on RoZ.
