Help with a newbie soloing bard - not Swarming

Hello I am really loving my bard on the new Teal server.

I know the playstyle is critized by many when I say I want to play the bard class like a soloist. What can I say, I like to solo. Plus I don't like to swarm kite. I can do it well but it sucks that I can only hit 4 mobs at a time and going around in circles makes me dizzy.

So I plan to do lot of Fear Kiting and Charm Kiting.

Which leads me to ask for some advise about weapons.
I'm only a level 15 bard but could you recommend some weapons I can realistically pick up on Teal (preferrably swords for the look ^^; ) as i move up in levels? sorta of a progression guide if you can. Currently I have about 300 plat farming in Lfay.

Probably get a dragoon dirk as you first high priority item. It's got a nice ratio and eventually if/when you get better you can throw it into your ranged slot. After that, I'd try to get an obsidian shard for offhand.

Hey Wynd - got a few questions as a fellow bard:
1) Why can you only hit 4 mobs at once? I thought the AoE limit was 25 mobs?
2) What have you been farming in LFAY for that amount of plat? Im 14 bard with a measly 40 plat to my name.

1) right now only 4 mobs get damaged by our pboae songs like dissonance even if you have let say 25 mobs in a pack. I believe it is to limit swarm kiting. This I have personally done so I can attest it.

2} Lfay has a camp called bandits where u have 3 bandits. They are rogues npcs and backstab for like 50 to 70 if you have your back turned. You can lull pull to break spawn and just single face tank them with somgs up or just kite all 3 via strafe kiting. Really easy. They drop bronze weapons that sell anywhere from 1 plat to 4 plat each. They respawn fast in 6 min.

Get a Polish Granite Tomahawk. the proc lets you absorb some dmg. helps a ton when im soloing.

I was hoping for a sword... but I guess there are not too many around.

I had one of these on my bard on blue that I purchased pretty early on. I haven't seen one around on teal yet.

The 15 mez is only 1 tick... but it is AE. So, no twisting while holding those 4 orcs. It's limited to mobs up to level 25, so later on you will have to rely on the single target mez (coming in the late 20ties), which will last the usual 3 ticks.

Once you get Charm bards become extremely powerful soloers, on a max duration charm you charm monster #1 send it to monster #2, twist 4 songs, pause one second, start casting charm on monster #2 (it should land right after it breaks). Then send monster #2 at monster #1. Once you get timing down even in dungeons you won’t hardly get hit.

Tips:
1) outdoor zones twist in selos and you can easily charm kill yellows bc you’ll never get hit.
2) when both are low, mez both, snare, fear and dot to get full control on parked mobs in dungeon
3) when soloing in dungeon like SolA for example you will sometimes get multiple casters twist hymn with lute then guardian and elemental with drum before recharm and you will resist 75% of nukes they do get off.
