Hi I just started and made a necromancer.

I do not know the controls very well walking seems to be ESDF and not WASD

I started with no gear and attacked a mob with my fists I died easily.

There is no starting gear, what should I do first? I have no spells either Im next to a priest of discord.

Welcome

https://wiki.project1999.com/Players:Newbie

The wiki has tons of good info.

You can press alt+o to open the options menu and from there remap keybinds.

In Options (Alt-O; or command-O for us Mac users), you can go to Keys and then Movement and set WASD as your movement keys.

A freshly-created necromancer should have a dagger, a note, 2 spells, 5 food, and 5 drink, as well as a candle if Human or Erudite. If you have none of this, you may have died. In that case, you can o loot your own corpse. Or just re-create.

First thing to do is turn in the note to whoever it says to (right click to read it). You get a little reward for this...
Next, right-click the same NPC and train 1 point in Sense Heading and 4 in Piercing.

Make sure to equip your dagger, put your spells in your spellbook, then left-click those same soells from the spellbook into your spell bar. Cast your Minor Shielding first. Then try to kill something with Lifetap and autoattack.

Good luck, adventurer.

Click spells bottom left and you can put your 2 spells in your spellbook then on your hotbar vertical left u can put your 2 spells that u can click to attack mobs 1 should be a buff so press f1(yourself)and click it and you gonna have a little bit more hp and ac 2nd spell is a lifetap meaning mob you attack get his hp lower and yours go up. Good luck. The note you get is to be given to a necromancer gm check wiki to see where he is. gm gonna give you a shirt when he receive the note. You also gonna have a book that's for those who want to fight other player just put on your mouse and click destroy on your inventory screen bottom right.

So first of all, if you're not a Dark Elf then delete and start one. All new players should start in Neriak. All the other places are too plain, too fruity, or too dirty. How you gonna have your introduction to EQ fighting rats in some sewer shithole? Check out the magnificent purple neon, breathe in that cold cold air, hail Seloxia Punox.

Back in my day it was A. Q is totally not classic. I remember a bunch of times trying to talk to npc's to respond, "What is--" *Dies*

For me its all about that decadent and cloying jungle smell of Cabilis man, but no luck still, close second would be dirty sewer Bertie enhanced Qeynos Sewers and third Neriak to be honest.
