If so, how difficult do you find it to find time to play?

Is there a lot of lag?

Appreciate any more answers, and insight in to those currently in service, or served while playing EQ.

Those are very vague questions. What branch of the military? What rank/role? What base? Deployed? Overseas? On a ship/sub?

While never active duty, I worked closely with the Navy as a civilian engineer for many years on various bases in Japan, Washington, California, Virginia, Guam, and a few times out to sea for sea trials / CASREPS.

On the bases I've been on there's no issue with gaming, depending on your free time and responsibilities. The wifi is generally good, and there's many different lounge areas that were always full of people on their laptops or using those portable gaming suitcase dealies for their xbox or playstation.

If you're out to sea on a ship, don't expect the wifi to be good enough for gaming, if it exists/works at all.

But yeah, need more info. The available playtimes between a Marine infantry grunt and a Navy logistics specialist are significantly different.

Can confirm Swish and I are reserves in the EU army. Scheduled to be dismissed 31st October, delays aside.

I used to play EQ with a guy in the american navy stationed in Japan. He would come and go but when he was back at base he was able to raid and group normally.

Went over and saw him for a month. Cool place.

Raiding was fine back in the day on 56k modems. The biggest issue was particle effects lagging old PC's. I spent most of my cleric raiding career facing a wall for that reason (or around a corner)

nothing like raiding with the fellas after a long day of terrozing foreigners because you were too dumb to get decent grades in high school lmao

I'm against all the bullshit wars, but this is a messed up thing to say. We should have some respect for the military servicepeople among us.

Why?

They sometimes put their lives at risk for us.

We don’t need to send the military off to fuck up other countries, but we do need a military.

3.The available playtimes between a Marine infantry grunt and a Navy logistics specialist are significantly different.

1.My questions weren't supposed to be specific. I just wanted to get general information regarding people's experience with EQ while in the military.

2. My uncle does the same thing.

3. That's one of the reasons my question was open ended. What's the difference?

And I wouldn’t give them shit either. I get to make my living playing bass. I sure am glad other people are doing the actual hard work. Thanks, folks.

I'm not saying let's lick their boots. I'm just saying not to talk trash about them as individuals.

Yes because there definitely aren’t any people who join the military post college as commissioned officers.

There’s definitely no one using the military as a way to pay for college, or to escape poverty or hard upbringing.

There are no doctors, nurses, surgeons, or any highly skilled medical professionals in the military.

The military will not teach you any valuable life skills. There are no electricians, mechanics, supply chain, or management skills to be had.

And having military service on your resume all but ensures no one will hire you at any reputable company.

Not to mention virtually anyone can go to a community college, but roughly 75% of young adults in America (you included I assume) wouldn’t even be eligible to join the military.

Question - do you wear a fedora? You sound like someone who would wear a fedora.

Thank you for your hypothetical service OP.

I never said I served, but I'm interested in serving in the US military like my father did.

I spent most of my 20's dealing with depression and family issues. I've had people pull out machetes and guns at me and dealt with life and death situations. (Ooh internet tough guy!)

I'm used to getting yelled at my entire life, so I figure I just got to get in shape.

However I am wondering how much it will affect EQ and just wanted to hear other people's military stories in general.

Who knows, Videri might be in a world famous band. I know a guy who knows a guy that plays for Earth Wind and Fire.

I have friends that have done hip hop performances in crowds of 10,000 people.
I knew a guy who knew the founder of Forever 21, and had dinner with Korean celebrity Rain.
My uncle in law was the Vice President for LG.
One of my Uncles on my mother's side was one of the top 10 people in the Yakuza.
Why can't Videri be some sort of master Bassist?
Or maybe Videri lives in a cardboard box and plays for tips on the street corner.

My point is why the hell not?

Should I respond to the troll? Sure. I play both bass and guitar (mainly bass though) and I teach piano, guitar, bass, and ukulele 3 days a week. I am also the bass player for five bands that play original music of various styles. And I play in a wedding band every weekend that pays more than the other two things put together. I could quit the teaching and get by, but I love it too much and I have taught some of the students for years. I do make my living as a bass player and teacher.

I'm sorry you couldn't hack it.

Prior service here - just gonna throw some side thoughts at you to mull over...
Do you not mind being told what to do? (and sometimes by someone with the intellect of a house plant)
Are u fond of 20k ruck marches, night dropping into Panama in full gear or being on call to be in combat in less than 3 hours?
Basic Training is fun but it does weed out a lot of people not fit for the job.

If you do enlist - please make sure you get in writting that you want to go Airborne, Air Assault, ski school, jungle training, etc... so u get tons of training. If you're that good, go Special Forces or Delta. And if you're a bad mofo go Sapper school

If everyone on this planet would start meditating and looking a little deeper there would be no military infact they would be scared just to join.... ;)
