Just running through Feerrott about to hit the Rathe tunnel and then:

Which sucks because my warrior made it to level 21 without a single death and then this loser jumps out of nowhere in a newbie zone and that's that.

Anyway, this very tough lv50 mob should not be scowling and killing innocent people who are trying to keep the lizardmen population down.

This is the guy https://wiki.project1999.com/Dark_Assassin

and here are a bunch of comments regarding his con:

Cons Indifferent to all players I've seen encounter him before.

i have all these toons and they are all indifferent. never fought this guy but he has never been KoS.

Dblue con to 65, conned indifferent to ranger of tunare. N

Dec 06 2000 at 2:58 PM I am a Barbarian Shaman he always just wlaked by me indifferently.

Moving to general bugs as he has been disabled on Classic Era green per nilbog and won't show up until epics.

I did some work on Azraxs' Legacy quest for the next patch. This was part of it.

Fixed, pending update

Not that any additional evidence was required, but for those wondering/misremembering...

This Dark Assassin guy has become a new "classic memory" for me.

I was under the impression he was classic KoS and when I got killed by him, I shook my head and smiled, and appreciated the savagery of an old classic game.

But he wasn't classic. He was new.

I don't know if that speaks on the impact of confirmation bias or rose-colored glasses but I thought that was interesting.

I will probably always avoid the main road to Rathe Mountains in Feerott because "it's the classic thing to do".

I kinda wonder how many players brownified their pants, and then take screenshots of him upon relief of not having to recover yet another corpse.

I thought he was invisible because everytime he killed me, I never saw him.

I just got insta-backstabbed.
