Lower Guk, hands down.

I voted for Guk as I'm assuming it covers both zones which is huge and my all time classic memories come from that darn frenzied ghoul. Also, HHK should be added to the list. It's a great place with a massive level range and all possible convenience (vendors, outdoors, etc...)

HHK should be on this list.

Best zone dungeon in the game. Every player has passed through it at one point.

It has:

A bank.
Merchants.
Bindable in zone
Camps for all lvls from lvl 6 to 60 and AA

prisioners, osargan, goblins, guards, warriors, raiders, named guards, nobles (aa), best pathing exploits in game

its an "outdoor dungeon" you can sow, harmoney, did i say bind?

Seperate faction than the rest of the world. Has multiple floors. Has hookers "ladys in waiting".

All different types of human mobs.

RAN MOTHER FUKING FLAME SPINNER.

Best zone in game 6-60 has something for everyone.

I love me some Crushbone - can't believe it's not getting more love. Close second would be SolB.

For me, it was a more nostalgic choice. It was between Blackburrow and Unrest, but I ultimately chose Blackburrow.

My first character was a dwarven cleric (with most of my starting points going into STR) owning gnolls outside the entrance. Eventually, I made my way inside and it was glorious.

Runnyeye!

Went there in low 20s with a group on live walked around randomly till our tank got charmed by an Evil Eye (rest of group was casters) half the group tried to kill him the other half tried to heal him and when my gate spell finished casting it was just him left alive running towards me. In conclusion fuck that zone.

I think Guk is nice because of the exp and loot, but sheer fun factor I voted Crushbone.

My 2 favorite zones were Runnyeye and Mistmoore. RE mainly for the trains, with a good enchanter and healer that zone was insane XP. I love Mistmoore for the loot. Some of my fave loot in game comes from that zone. EBW, Rod, Chestplate, Sac Dagger, NSW, & part of the cleric mace. I can remember getting overwhelmed in the negotiator room there back in the day and beatin it to the zone line. Turning around just as I zoned to see prob 60 hot dark elves chicks chasing me.

Guk is hands down the best dungeon I've enjoyed in any game. The playstyle of EQ lends itself well to a lot of awesome dungeons though.

Cazic Thule has always been one of my favourite as well.

unrest. maybe it's cuz the yard was so much fun to level as a lowbie, or maybe it's just the flavor of the zone. but i loved going there and as soon as i was 10 i lead many a group on suicide expeditions thru dagnors :D

Guk is underestimated by many, or feared would be a better word. In my opinion deaths, experience modifier and loot aside, Guk is one of the best designed dungeons ever. And (like many of you) I've played the classics and the newest (mmorpg or single rpg).

Hands down.

lower guk. hands down. no contest.

whether it's the trains from a camp all the way out, passing through each room and the split second you go by each frog adds and starts the chase themselves, and each person you pass you know is about to die, just to find 10 people at the zone in all jumping to try and squeeze by the fatty blocking the hallway.

or being 35-40 in a camp, telling the group to stay hidden, while someone mentions "@!$#@!$ i see frenzy coming back!" ... "quick grab it while you can!" ... "oh !@#$ screw that, lord is coming right behind him."

or with a 30min respawn timer, seeing just how far you can get to clearing from an undead camp into live to pull whatever named is up by throne room.

definetly no love loss for camping raster... :( which reminds me ill have to do that for my monk epic again

I vote we redo this poll with ALL the original dungeons included.
Then delete this one. I want to know how many crazy people would vote for Kedge.

Also Runnyeye is missing from this list.
And I would consider PoHate to be a dungeon personally.
And Guk should be split between upper and lower if Sol is split between A and B.

Cazic Thule has always been one of my favourite as well.

I voted Cazic Thule myself. In classic I played it as a monk and the zone would make or break a monk in. Outside of that it was a zone where all classes were finally equipped with some of there defining abilitys and could start to apply them to a zone where grouping was greatly valued. Mob placement was pretty well and the roamers were good as well. If you played your cards right you could really get some stuff done. The camps also seemed spread out enough to the point where you did not have the deepest camp (AoF) train out and wipe every single camp! Though trains were very plentiful...

I enjoyed lower guk myself but it mostly seems to be purely a loot based decision. However it was still a fun zone to pull (minus ghoul root!).

Hmm.... I could pick half the choices on that list... about the only ones I never really liked were the ones that I'd never gone into very much. Guk, Unrest, Befallen, Blackburrow, Crushbone, 'pre-update' Cazic Thule... They all were fun. ;)

Got lost in Solusek A and B a few times but even so it was enjoyable.

Permafrost and Mistmoore are missing as well and haven't been mentioned in the last few pages.

Blackburrow has gotta be the best low level dungeon. Crushbone doesn't count, I mean come on. I wish Runnyeye was more viable; the way things aggro in that zone makes it kinda too hard for anyone to really venture far into it. Befallen kinda requires a Rogue on your team, I've never actually had a real low level group there that accomplished much.

Splitpaw or Upper Guk for mid level. I've always been ambivalent about Solusek A. The best areas kinda require a Bard. Cazic Thule was epic when Rubicite dropped there.

Definitely Lower Guk for high level.

So, basically, gnolls and frogloks = EQ magic!

Bleepblurp

Is it still possible to run actual exp groups in most of these zones? I imagine by now the only populated places are high level dungeons, with the low level ones occupied by farmers and people being PL'd

Raavak
09-04-2013, 10:46 AM
You can exp in them, but you will likely have to bring your group with you. I don't think there's much lfg going on inside. Its still fun as heck, just takes more organization that in the old days.

On Live, I pretty much played only an SK. Befallen was a good beginner dungeon, but ultimately, I find undead dungeons cliche and boring. So, it and Unrest don't make it.

Blackburrow was a kick in the ass. I still hear the sounds of gnolls sometimes.

The only thing I ever did in Guk was factioning for some illusion mask. It was tedious, not really fun.

I never really experienced Crushbone, any of the Sols (outside of raids), or Splitpaw.

I tend to divide my EQ life into two eras: Pre-CT and Post-CT. I think I spent about 10 levels in CT getting my SK armor pieces. I Love Zilla! I Eat Zilla! Mmmm... I love the way that zone was designed. It breaks my cold SK heart to see how different is it in P99.
